There's been a lot of discussion about the Anti christ and going to the source it seems that the greek for the number is listed above. It was common in the ancient world to use gemantria (spelling off I know). Letters for words and if written in Hebrew maybe Mem Samech Vav (Unsure about this but trying to reach the 600+60+6). But I was wondering if a better translation of the number of the beast would not be 616 instead of 666. Any one know?

Strange, once mentioned, 666 trillion times surmised.

a little solace, 666 is not Christianity; so is not even of moderate importance

I'm no good joker; so I'll stop.

What is the literal English for the Greek here? Why do you suggest 616?
(I'm only worse at theology than at arithmatic and humour.)

I have always just followed the figure-symbolism, as if three 6's in a row; always attempting at 7, but always falling short; like human attempt at salvation. For what it's worth or not worth.

Why do you say that? The view is that the actual translation from the Greek would get a rendering of 616 rather than 666. Ireaneus mentions this discussion in his day.

Why don't you think 666 isn't a christian consept?
