Hi everyone!

I am very excited about the opportunity to be a part of Baptist Board and help it continue to grow. After browsing around for the last few days, I see a lot of great, dedicated people here.

I'd like to share a few things about myself:

My name is Brent Wilson and I am 31 years old. I live in Huntsville, AL and consider myself to be non denominational. I have been a part of online forums since I was 16 years old. When I was 17 years old I decided I wanted to start my own forum, so I started what is now http://www.mustangevolution.com. Fast forward 10 years or so and Mustang Evolution was one of the largest Ford Mustang communities in the world.

Having a desire to try something new, I decided to sell my forum and start investing and into other online communities. Now I am a part of https://www.whippmedia.com with my business partner Rex.

I'd like to answer a few questions that I see come up when we purchase a new forum and then I am very happy to answer any questions you may have:
  • We have no immediate plans to ad any advertisements to Baptist Board. We do have access to one of the largest family focused ad networks in the world though and when the time comes we will be using them as they do a very good job to keep the ads clean and the annoying pop ups and auto playing video ads out.
  • Still discussing ads, when we do decide to add advertisements, every single members who has registered before the day we add advertisements will automatically be given an ad free account. This means you and everyone else that is registered now will never see an ad on Baptist Board when you are logged in.
We have a lot of good ideas and plans for Baptist Board down the road that we will share with you when the time comes. I really hope I can live up to your expectations when it comes to providing you all a great place for fellowship with other Christians.

With all of that said, I am happy to take any questions or concerns you might have! If you can, I would love to hear a little bit about you as well!

Hi and welcome to your forum :). You're just a bit south from where I live (my family and I try to make it to Ol' Heidelberg at least every month or so).

Dude, I checked out your other forums/properties. Some of those look like the wild west.

Haha how so?

Oh, the content, not knocking moderation or anything. It gets pretty wild here with just Baptists discussing things within the scope of our tradition. Looking at religiousforum.com, it's everything under the sun.

I'm not so sure about that. The wild west didn't even look like the wild west. :)

Shoulda made it pink:Laugh:Wink
I disagree. The man clearly has a full beard which, along with his black framed eyeglasses, suggest that he is not the type of man who would wear a pink cap while exercising his constitutional right of free speech.

Consider Paul’s words in 1 Kings 20:38, “So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with a bandage over his eyes”. The major point here is that as Christians we need to take off those bandages covering our eyes before big government runs us over.

And while I can’t prove it, I think it is possible InTheLight may have arranged the scene (the man with the red hat bares a striking resemblance to the man int he blue hat...they are probably related and this may be "fake news").

Only if he wears pink yoga pants. Then the blue color offsets it.

Me Thinks Brent in the next few weeks may be holding a turkey instead of a fish.

When the original BB was founded in 2000, we had 2 Hungarian brothers in Christ (Barnabas and Barnabas) who worked together to have a place for edifying discussion for Baptists. I was invited to come on board and found it a challenging learn-as-you-go venture, as on-line forums were still uncharted territory.

This was modified to allow half of the forums for non-Baptists as long as they were "Christian" and non-proselytizing. This is still a "safe haven" for Baptists and we have a WIDE VARIETY within the "Baptist" tree. Lots of branches. Lots of odd birds roosting. :)

It will be a joy and privilege to work on Brent's new forum (he's a ruddy youth, a newbie to the BB, and <gasp> a non-Baptist, so be gentle with the lad) and see the next permutation of the BB in the days to come.

Speaking for myself only (since no one listens to me anyway) I'd say "Welcome". But that is not right since YOU own this place. I'll say "Thank You" for letting us play here. :)

While I may not be Baptist I have quite a few family and friends that are. I am here to work with you all to help grow your community. If I can lend some advice a long the way, I will be more than happy to!

I guess I am a bit naive about the creation and selling of Christian forums. It seems it is a business, I guess I always thought it was a non-profit ministry someone created for the benefit of the body of Christ.

I can see how it could look like that. It is a hobby of mine (and my buddy Rex). Unfortunately, no one was going to give us this for free and I would expect them not to considering how much work it takes to run a successful forum and invest in its future.
