Bless your heart, we had a young hispanic kid that wore a multi-colored mohawk. At the Churches picnic, he broke out some cardboard in the park and turned out to be a pretty good break dancer. Some of the other kids said he cheated because of his hair dew :laugh: :laugh: :thumbs:

He never joined the Church and I haven't seen him lately, I need to ask about him a prayer meeting this Wed.

Tiny, aren't you, in turn, walking that same fine line? Do you really think KJVO/Anti-CCM folks are causing people to go to Hell? Sounds pretty judgemental to me. Are you saying to your brother "Thou Fool?"

This is the conundrum all judgenotters find themselves in - judging the judgers.

It's this simple... anything that someone does that keeps someone else from coming to Christ is wrong....

I used to be part of the IFBs.
I set in a service one time when a pastor didn't preach the gospel, but instead preached against CCM, modern versions, and guys wearing earrings.

In that service set a teen boy with a NIV, and earring.
What did he learn.... God doesn't like people like him. He didn't hear the gospel.

Let's look at this reasonably:
I say hymns and CCM are both from God.
I say the KJV and the NIV are both the word of God.
I say a SBC, ABC, or IFB church that preaches the word of God is a church of God.

Now many IFBs,, not all, but the ones I know of, say that:
CCM is from Satan
the NIV is from Satan
and if you are not IFB you are not in a NT Church.

Now, who is being judgemental.
I am judging judgmentalism, not the person.
Notice I didn't say, people are sending others to Hell, but the judgements they put on other people.
KJVO is ascriptural, as is Anti-CCM, and denominations.
By ascriptural, I mean there is no scripture to address these man made theologies.

 

I have never done anything that kept someone from coming to Christ. The only thing that keeps them from coming to Christ is their totally depraved sinful hearts. This is the theological error of those who are trying so hard to be relevant to the lost world. They think that the salvation of others depends on what they do or do not do. It does not. Yes, God by his grace has given us the privilege to witness to the lost and proclaim the Gospel, but it is God himself who melts the heart of stone and saves his elect. Sorry, Joseph, this is one area that we disagree on... I believe that I could live in a way that would lead others to Hell.

You say that you have never done anything that has kept people from coming to Christ.... Praise God.

I wish I could say that I have lived a life like that.
But one time, when i wasn't living a Christ-like life, I could have done some things that would lead someone to Hell.

I remember partying and still calling my self "Christian"
The friends I was partying with got the impression that they could live anyway, and still get to Heaven.

The Gospel wasn't presented by my life.
Actions speak louder than words.

Joseph, How strongly do you believe in predestination? That could be why we disagree over this.

 

I read your link and here is the quesion that was asked:
God, from all eternity, did by the most wise and holy counsel of HIs own will, freely, and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass.

There is one logical falacy to the way the question is set up: In eternity nothing "comes to pass" Time does not exist in eternity, therefore the elements of time (past, present, future, comes to pass, did happen, etc) do not exist.

I believe in the sovereignity of God. I believe that God in his sovereignity can allow someone to mess up so bad that they can lead someone to Hell.

This thread is ssoooooo neat... we went from discussing to hip-hop to debating C&A! How cool is that?

God will not permit something that is in violation of his sovereign purpose and plan. The salvation of others has nothing to do with me and everything to do with God.

I never said that we could live in any manner we wished, and neither does Calvinism teach that.

Do you believe that when you were living in sin that you were thwarting the will of God to save his elect? If you believe this, then you believe in a God who is not sovereign. If God is not sovereign, then he is not Holy (because there is no guarantee that he can keep his promises) and, in fact, is not God at all. Why do you think the lost dies and goes to Hell? Is it because of their sin or is it because of something some Christian did? I will tell you that I totally reject this idea that I am a little Messiah who holds the souls of lost mankind in my hands.

I believe in predestination with all my heart because it is taught in the Bible.

Isn't being relevant to the audiance following the example set by Jesus? I always thought it was. When he spoke to fishermen he usually spoke about fishing, mending the nets etc... When he spoke to farmers he spoke about planting seeds, seperating wheat from tare etc... He knew those words would penetrate that audiance.

You wouldn't give a baby steak, but if you chew it up for them and place a small piece in the mouth you have given them something they can handle.
