Hiring a youth pastor

Church is interviewing one and he spoke today. There was a Q&A session as well. To be frank I think he is a perfect fit in his philosophy, theology, and personality with a IFB church so I recommend him. But should I vote for him? It's sad he will have to conform to the opinion of the church that the KJV is the best English translation, music can only be typical hymn style as featured in IFB churches and that contemporary worship is all bad, and that we should only associate and fellowship with other IFB churches.

I disagree strongly with these points but he is a great fit for the church so should I vote in favor of him?

Why is it sad if that what he believes and wishes to be at a like-headed church?

And why would you recommend someone you are not sure you can support for a leadership position in the church?

He is applying to the church with the full knowledge of those "requirements". If he chooses to apply and you think he would be a benefit to the youth and the church then vote for him. You are not voting for the requirements but for the man for the job.

Not sure I understand your question, or why you're asking it. Do you, or would you, want him teaching YOUR children? How you answer that is how you vote.

Yes he's a Godly man and yes I would not mind him teaching children.

We will avoid that quandary. When I saw the 'churches' doing 'the peanut butter challenge' in their 'youth groups' led by their 'youth pastors' it helped to reinforce my stance. - no youth pastors. All worship together at the worship hour. Yes, sure, there are some 'good ones' out there, but to me it is just like saying a woman is a 'good pastor' in her defense as if that justifies that unbiblical position. :)

Would you please try to be honest about this?

You stated "it's sad he will have to conform...." and then listed several traits of IFB churches that are typically considered negative, applying them to YOUR church.

How is that NOT derogatory?

Question: if you, as a pastor, found out one of your church members was posting such things about YOUR church, would you at least consider talking to that person?

He and his wife are unequally yoked. It's her church, and what he's unhappy with there are the things he's unhappy with in his wife. The guy's a mess.

There is a local Calvinist church that I attend the men's group twice a week and it's a better fit.

It's a good church for a IFB Fundamehtalist Baptist.

If the man is not a good fit for that church then I wouldn't encourage the hire. It will only cause strife and division. I don't understand why he would seek the position if he disagrees with the church's theology. I also don't see why the church would entertain hiring someone for such a vital position if he doesn't affirm their beliefs.
