Oh my. Where do I begin on this one? This is my field of study at a personal level and I have a lot of legal / historical experience from my career. This is my first post here, so it better be good.
The most important foundational principle of this country is found in the Declaration of Independence. It states:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Thomas Jefferson, on this subject, stated:
"The Declaration of Independence . . . [is the] declaratory charter of our rights, and the rights of man."
EVERY human being, regardless of who he is or where he is has unalienable Rights. These Rights are bestowed upon us by a Creator (aka God) and cannot be bought, sold, transferred, withheld, denied, nor taken away (except for a time when we find someone guilty of a crime.)
The only thing that makes us "special" is that we are the only nation on earth that both acknowledges those Rights AND guarantees them under our Constitution. The Bill of Rights is, essentially, a codification of your unalienable Rights.
John Adams, the second president of the United States said:
"[You have Rights] antecedent to all earthly governments:
Rights, that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws;
Rights, derived from the Great Legislator of the universe."
These are the principles upon which this country was founded.
Having said that, the Second Amendment, like all the rest, are irrelevant, mostly due to the Heller gun decision wherein the United States Supreme Court nullified our foundational principles; declared that none of them are unlimited (setting the stage for the government to tell us what religion we can believe in.)
You are right to be vigilant and not put a lot of trust in a president whose past contradicts his claims.
Lastly, what makes you think America isn't in the Bible? How do we create the greatest nation in the annals of history and it escaped the attention of our Lord and Savior?
