Holder Calls U.S. 'Nation of Cowards' on Race Matters

The reason we have been called "cowards" is because we don't talk about racial issues. The reason we don't like talking about racial issues is because anytime something is said contrary to the beliefs of liberals, we are viewed as being racist.

I have always heard liberals talking about "unity". What people need to realize is that they are the ones dividing people. They are the ones that put people into different groups or classifications (women, blacks, whites, hispanics, etc). Then they try to create other groups that aren't even minorities such as homosexuals or over weight people. What's next? Characterizing people based on their height? I guess dwarves will be classified a minority next.

I think the real question is when will black people fairly be placed in history books so a black history month won't be necessary. I thought we had a black history month because blacks were traditionally left out of history books.

From what Holder said they are cowards because they are afraid to have open dialog on the issue. He is saying if they have a valid reason they should have no problem openly discussion it with you.

Soledad O'Brien made a profound statement today, she said people are constantly telling her they don't notice race. She thinks to herself, "what, are you blind? How can you look at a black person and not notice they're black?" the trick is not t pretend like you don't notice, it is to know fully they are black and judge them only by their character... I thought that was interesting...

I am in unity with you here...

Because that's the topic and because there doesn't seem to be any support for Holder's contention. What he's really saying is we don't make an effort to improve our relationships with people of other races.

What does Holder know about me?

Or any other person outside of his personal circle?

I guess that the people that he is complaining about are his personal circle.

Maybe he should talk to them (and take a look in the mirror) before lecturing me and the rest of the American people that he doesn't know.

He saying to not be a coward and discuss that with a black person. In the end he feels it will mean you won't like certain people but not an entire race. Black people come in all flavors just like any other race so I am sure there is one like you or that the only difference will be race. Then if you don't like them then you know the only reason is race which would then confirm you're a ... Non-lover of blacks...

No kidding? I thought they were all the same!

JustChristian, you missed my point. If you believe ANYTHING or state ANYTHING that goes against Mr. Obama or Ms. Pelosi or Mr. Reid and their party, YOU WILL BE DECLARED RACIST! THEY are the ones who keep bringing up racism, even though none of my cited situations deal with racism. In addition, they define racism as only including white people, even though many people of color (their term) exhibit extreme racist attitudes against whites, as well as against their own "color".

If you disagree with abortion, you will be declared racist, even though we both know there is no connection. If you preach Jesus as the only way to heaven, you will be declared racist, even though we both know there is no connection. If you disagree with the Democrats (in general, not all) on any matter, you will be declared racist, even though we both know there is no connection.

IMHO, the Democrats want to keep us (the country) divided and fighting, so that they can keep themselves in power. (It is also possible that Republicans could do something similar. After all, we are all sinners!)

I hope this clarifies my point to you.

Bill :godisgood:
As I noted on another thread, there have been 5 bills introduced recently on abortion and 3/5 were sponsored by Democrats. How does that fit in your world view?

I think Black History Month is itself a statement of racism.

Holder's comments about people being cowards for not discussing matters of race were made at a tribute to Black History Month.

... I think Holder is right if he means that people of ALL races are equally guilty of keeping us from being more fully integrated. ...

Do you think that's what he meant?

Why do we need to become "more fully integrated"? What's wrong with having differences?

Please show me an example where a Democrat declared someone a racist for disagreeing on abortion or because that person preached Jesus.

Any example...I'll be waiting.

Hmmm....

May not exactly be what you're looking for but it was Robert Kennedy that authorized the FBI to wiretap and spy on ...

We have a Black History Month.
We have a Black Congressional Caucus, but limited to democrats.
We have a Black Miss America.
We have a Black National Anthem.

We have a president who is half white but considers himself Black.

So where is the racism?

(Holding up the lighter...)

(singing) Can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are...

What... the... world needs now... is love, sweet love... no, not just for some... but for everyone!

OR... maybe we're cowards because we need... courage!

What makes a king out of a slave? Courage!
What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage!
What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk?
What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage!
What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage!
What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage!
What makes the Hottentot so hot?
What puts the "ape" in apricot?
What have they got that I ain't got? Courage!

Reach out and touch somebody's hand... make this world a better place if you can... (/singing) but only if you touch somebody's hand that's different. If your friends are the same color as you, if you hang out with people of your own color, and don't mix it up, you're a coward and should be ashamed. Not hardly!

Wouldn't have been needed if blacks were detailed in the regular history books.

It was the white man back in slavery times that made the rule that a person who is any part black is considered black. Obama or no one in this day and age made that rule, he is just living by it.

The good news OR is I see a day in the future where none of these things will be needed. Blacks are now being included in the history books, treated like other congresspersons, can compete for Ms America and since just about everyone is mixed with something, racial labels are becoming obsolete... I guess now we just need to wait on the season...

To everything there is a season etc...

The US is a nation of racial cowards when it comes to arabs. Case in point is the founder of the muslim Bridges network who just beheaded his wife. If someone other than an arab muslim would have murdered his wife (such as a TV evangelist, etc.), it would have been all over the national networks and all the talking heads would have droned on and on about it for a solid week. Hardly a peep over this story, though, because muslims might be offended, and especially arab muslims. Cowards.

Strange. I read about George Washington Carver and Booker T. Washington back in the 1940's. Also strange that blacks don't know about or even acknowledge these outstanding Americans.

Could it be because they were not poverty pimps like so many black leaders today?

Lets see. The democrats controlled the House all but 4 years between 1930 and 1994 [1947, 1948; 1953, 1954]. Are you saying that the democrats kept the black congressmen from drinking at water fountains user by white congressmen. Shameless and yet the Black Caucus would not let the two Black Republican Representatives caucus with them.

Slavery was ended 150 years ago. It should be noted that never in recorded history have people of one race died to free people of another race unless you consider the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I probably won't live to see it but I sincerely hope that day comes otherwise I believe this country will not survive.
