Holy Spirit ash trays for sale

We have our own bookstore at the church. The "Christian" bookstore stocks anything with a religious theme, and why not they are business to make money. Most of the material is new evagelical material. They do stock good Christian fiction however.


In our church bookstore everything is sold at cost and what isn't in stock can be ordered, we also have a man who visits periodically from Bearing Precious Seeds. This is a printing minstry that sells Bibles at a reduced price.

 

This is so true! I buy most of my books online or from my local church and I'm sure it has hurt our local Christian Book Store.

Actually, our store is a Hallmark store run by Catholics. They have novelties in the front of the store (Precious Moments etc.) and the whole back section is for Christian books, CDs, Bibles, etc.

Saved people are not the only ones who shop there, so if they want to survive as a business, they have to stock other items that appeal to different tastes. I have never seen anything distasteful there. (Except maybe "Maxine" and I get a kick out of the old gal).

I needed a reference book that they did not have in stock one time. They ordered it for me, but until it came in, they delivered to my house in person, their personal copy of it for me to use.

To me, that is not just good business; that is Christianity.

We're blessed to have so many Christian Bookstores in our area. I do buy my reading books from Crosswalk and then my best friend and I swap books so we can read all we want for half the cost. I got 'Thorn in My Heart' yesterday.

HeadCoverLady....that is the same way in my town. They have Cookie Jars, and glass decorative canisters, picture frames, Jewelry, but in the very back, on a small display shelf sits the Bibles. And good luck finding a pocket Bible to purchase for witnessing, or just sticking in your purse....you will not find one. But...And I love CCM..you know that...thats not the question...there will be a whole big area for finding music And several head phones and sitting areas to try the music out. Which that is nice...but then you look and there sits a small display of Bibles....seldom a reference book....and plenty of fiction...makes you wonder...what is the priority.

I'm sure not all Christian book stores are strictly Christian. Maybe that's where the difference lies. Not all "Christian" religions are what we would understand as "Christian" by our standards.

Is a quick way to make a buck. Make a thingmabob, then stick a fish on it and sell it for a couple of times what it is worth. Sad part is there are people who buy it.

I don't go to the bookshops much these days, do most of reading on the web.

We have 3 Christian radio stations in our area. 2 FM and 1 AM. The AM is all talk(or just about all talk). One of the FM is a good mix of talk and music and the other FM is almost all contemporary music. The 2 FMs have no commercials apart from the "lifeline pro" ones which are actually things to make christians think. The AM one has commercials. Personally, I don't listen to the AM, partly because of the commercials, but in reality the one FM is a MBI station and has everything I need.

About CBD, they seem to have changed some, a lot of the catalogs I get are 5+ pages of Bibles, could be I signed up for the pastoral and academic catalogs.

Our bookstore has a good mix, the front is all the gifts stuff. The middle is the books and the back is the music. It bothers me that there is around 6 shelves (not shelf units, but actualy shelves) about 4 feet wide for Commentaries, Dictionaries other reference work. There are about at least 24 of those same shelfs for "Christian Living" which covers everything from fasting to Kurt Warner's biography and all the other things. It leans more on the biographies and latest books than it is on say prayer and/or fasting.

One thing has struck me lately. With the rise of Christian music and other Christian items. I wonder how many non-Christian stores look at Christians and say "if it's got a fish, they'll buy it."

No, I haven't! I generally only go to Carrollton to take Nick to Castle Playground and then will go over to Publix. Where is Good Shepherd?

I don't know how you come from Villa Rica to Carrollton, but you take a left at the big intersection before you get to the Big Lots. Once you get to the big intersection by the new county jail and the VoTech school, turn right (this is Newnan Road). Shepherd's Corner is a a little ways down this road on the left . . . it's a red metal building.
