I believe that it is highly possible that homosexuals have a genetic deficiency that can cause an urge toward homosexuality, but the Bible says we must not give in to the sins of the flesh, so if the body wants to sodomize the spirit must fight it. And that goes for every sin not just homosexuality. us Baptists must also make sure that we don't commit another sin besides hatred of homosexuals, we must offset our need to condon homosexuality.

Johnv when i stated that i was refering to how billy graham will make his message kinder to others who need to just get the blatent truth, an example of franklin graham would be that he prayed a prayer he was told not to pray at a political event. If anyone could get me a link for falwells 9/11 speach and the speach in which he told the joke about homos i would like to read the context around the verse. Because that would be a sad thing for christians to be judgeing one of us when it was in the wrong context. But in a way 9/11 could have been the punishment for homosexuality as well as other sins but homosexuality is rapidly on the rise as of now and he feels strongly against that as do i. I have no problem with loving the person but when ther in my space is when have had enough. Its not that ther sinning that i hate them because everyone sins and we should love the sinner but they are forcing ther way of life, dont believe anyone who says they are fighting for rights because they have plenty right now they are basicly invading everyones lives and the safty of others children, faith, and morrals.

Today it is Sodomites and lesbians.
    Before that it was tobacco.
    Before that is was pornography.
    Before that it was Abortion.
    Before that it was crime.
    Before that it was drugs.
    Before that it was rock-n-roll.
    Before that it was rebellion.
    Before that it was drinking.
    Before that it was profanity.

My point? I do not believe the sodomites are any worse today than ever before. The difference is press coverage. Look at each of the above society destroying evils. I think one could say that in every case, the Christian conversation centered on these issues because of the noteriety of the press. Yes, society IS getting more and more evil. But I think we are misdirecting our conversations based on what the press puts in our faces. We get distracted from our primary call. No surpirse there. We are still just human. But should this be so? I submit, it should not.
Our primary focus should always be the Glory of God, not what is the most popular sin of the day. When we as the Church, the Light set on a hill, proclaim God's Holiness for His Glory, then and only then will we make an impact on society around us. This is what happened in the past. The great revivals of the past happened because the people of the "Church" sought the Glory of God, and promoted it. God honored that and sent revival. Societies were influenced by those revivals and changed as the direct results of those revivals.

CAN WE DO ANY BETTER? I submit, we cannot.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

I would humbly submit that what the Lord desires is soul winners. Christians who will witness to those who do not know God and his wonderful gift of salvation, and what miracles God can work in each persons life when they surrender their life to Him. I believe that God desires christians who will reach those who do not know Him as Lord and Savior, will present the Gospel of Christ to them and lead them to an eternal life as a child of God.

rsr, was that the 9/11 speach? because if it was he obviously was not putting the blame on gays but on those who are trying to make this sinnful alternate lifestyle. I see no wrong in what falwell said.

DHK, I apprciate your answer, but you missed the point. the part I was noting was thou hatest all workers of iniquity. God is still the same yesterday today and forever, so in that light please explain that portion of the verse.

Well, then, we're all doomed, becuase that includes all of us, not just homosexuals and the like. Perhaps instead of looking at the sins of others, we should look at the sins of ourselves first. There is no sinner worse than each of us.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. (I Tim. 1:15)

Psalms 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

It speaks of God's justice and holiness. Even in the New Testament the wrath of God remains on the unbeliever as long as he is unsaved. Habakkuk declares how God cannot tolerate sin of anykind. God is holy. He will only strive with sin and sinful man for just so long. He is longsuffering, but there is a limit. Sodom and Gomorroh found that out the hard way. Perhaps the current tsunami was a judgment of sorts on those nations as well. All that happens in this world is in the providence of God. One cannot say that (concerning the tsunami) dogmatically. But God has his purposes in all things.

Sorry, I'll gladly clarify. Of course the antichrist spirit is not new, as I made clear in the 3rd paragraph of the post. I am referring to an intensification of the move of the antichrist spirit which began showing up in large numbers of various movements in and out of Christianity in the latter part of the 20th century. Some have made observation that the period around 1994 could be fairly described as an 'outpouring' that continues to snowball and I agree with that thought. Others may not.

Regarding the "epidemic", anyone (in general) who doesn't think homosexuals (as a whole) are in the business of seeking and seducing 'prey' among the innocent and not so innocent heterosexuals, especially the young, and on a vast scale, must be living in la-la-land. My thought is the proliferation of homosexuality has moved in concurrence with the proliferation of the antichrist spirit and other moves of Satan.

I'm no expert on homosexuality but this looks like a classical homosexuality defense to me.

Ridiculous. We don't have to agree with homosexuals in order to demonstrate the love of God. I don't believe you.
Very clever, I must say. It might take several pages to completely show the flaws and inconsistencies in that statement. It's not worth it - I'll just disagree.
    Straw man.
'Orientation' is a confusing term and intentionally so (by the homosexual lobby). That said, here we agree. And who in this thread has indicated otherwise?
Will you confess that you agree with them? If not, will you say this is wrong, an abominable lifestyle?
Jesus is the one who casts homosexuality as a dark, sexual sin and calls it an abomination.

    Another straw man.

No, it's obvious you consider "many Christians" the greater threat. And surely you don't imply that anyone in this thread is guilty of that or has that attitude.

Please show me an example of why this is necessary from scripture. You can substitute incest, murder, or any other abomination if you like.

Again, are you suggesting any statement in this thread lacks compassion for the sinner? That is a typical plea for tolerance ..... once again, you make the homosexual's case for him.

Again, who are you accusing? And yet another straw man.

And another 'play defense with offense' tactic of the homosexual lobby. As if the misbehavior of heterosexuals, especially Christian heterosexuals, somehow lends credibility to the homosexual's case - and exposes, or somehow dilutes and diminishes what scripture says about homosexuality.

IveyLeaguer: IMHO, our best strategy is to equip ourselves for case-by-case witnessing, planting the seed of the Word. Brutally honest, yet loving (agape). If we truly 'agape' the homosexual, there will be no compromise or tolerance of the sin .......

Is 'agape' not clear enough in itself? Or do we need what you think you have in order to love a sinner and plant the Word?

The bible calls homosexuality sin. He states that the Homosexual does not love God.

Rom. 1:28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

We would always love the sinner but hate the sin. That is what Christianity is. Do we allow known practising Homosexuals to join our churches?? No way. No more than a known drunkard can enjoy fellowship of other christians if still practising. Admonish them as bretheren if they are truly saved. God says plainly that He turns them over to a reprobate mind, and they enjoy their sin. I think too many Homosexuals want it both ways.

If they want to become church members in a true bible believing church, they MUST repent of this sin and seek God's grace.

Not quite. Scripture says that the sinner (not just the homosexual sinner) does not love God. Scripture also says that that we are all sinners. No exceptions.

    Indeed!!

Certainly, admonish the brethren, but forbid membership because someone is sinning? Our chrches would be empty.

I think too many sinners want it both ways. They want the church to be understanding of their sin, but have a zero tolerance policy on other peoples' sins. Our church is full of people who are unrepentant of sins like prideful boasting, unfair business practices, lusting after other people in their hearts, gluttony, or sloth. All of these are abominations in the Bible. Add to those people folks in ur pews who are addicted to caffiene or nicotine, or those who habitually speed in traffic, or those who cheat on their timecards or taxes. Then, when soneone who is gay walk into our church, we add to oour list of sins the sin of hypocracy.

Let the one without sin cast the fist stone.

"You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, AND THEN YOU WILL SEE CLEARLY to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
    Matthew 7:5

If we were not able to remove the plank from our own eye, why would Jesus tell us this?

"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.
    John 16:13

"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, because they are spiritually discerned."
    1 Corinthians 2:14

People, we CAN know the truth about homosexuality, and we CAN see clearly to help our brothers and sisters come out of it.

Homosexual behavior is a sin condemned specifically and generally as fornication.

Homosexuality and sexual sins are different however. No one I know would try to justify lying as a lifestyle or stealing, murder, etc., etc.

Sexual sins and especially homosexuality seem to have an inordinate ability to blind the participant and to cause dogged efforts to justify the behavior as normal (read moral).

We can help, but God is the only one who can forgive and deal with the sin. Only He can restore and cleanse. So the sinner has to be willing to repent and offer up his sin to God - to love God more than the sin - and that requires the help of the Holy Spirit. So we can love on them and pray for them. I think prayer may be the most powerful way we have of helping them.

Also, the same Jesus who cleanses and heals homosexuals and other sinners is the same Jesus who made the rules for the church. There are reasons God set up parameters for the church. The apostle Paul wrote specifically about this. A healthy church can and does welcome any sinner to their fellowship, and will love on them, witness to them, share the eternal Word with them, and most of all, pray for them. But no healthy church can allow the open practice of sin as something the church should tolerate, as Jesus and Paul make clear.
