I have a question and am confused.
I grew up Catholic, and I have only been a christian for about 4 years now. Growing up I knew a lot of Gay people. I was friends with a lot of Gay males. I knew it was wrong to be gay, that it was not what God intended, but I also saw these people as human beings with very much the same feelings and rights as you or I.
Now being a christian, it is played apon more in the christian church, and I sit around and hear my fellow christians bash these humans who are a child of God.
We still know what they are doing is wrong and not God's will or way. But who are we to judge these people? God is the only judge of any one human. Why can't people just treat them as they would anyone else? Just because they are different? We are all different in our own ways. I don't condone their life style, but to me they can be a friend every bit as a straight girl or guy can.
Why now as a christian do I feel like I am wrong for having these feelings?
If a Gay person were to walk in yourchurch,How would you treat them?
Would you walk up and shake their hand and welcome them as if you would any straight person? Would you ignore them and whisper things about them and stare at them?
Or would some of you have the courage to actually shake their hand and then wipe your hand off on your clothing?
It makes me wonder.....
I don't know anymore how I would act in the same situation anymore. I see them as people, nothing less. But would I be afraid that if I treat them as such, people, would the church view that as wrong?
