Homosexuals as Friends

Bobthebeiliver, be a witness to your friend, reason with about about his sin without even addressing the sexual sin which he may already be ready to defend. When he understands he may have other sins such as lying, stealing, idolatry, covetousness, lust, anger, blasphemy, hatred, etc.then when he sees he is in danger of of damnation, then he will see his need to repent and trust in the Savior.

Shilo as for you, you said on page 3 "I bet I could describe the fellows to a "T" I bet they have no problem with wearing a necklace and earings. I would like to have them for a month with my boys to make men out of them".
Well I to wear a necklace, and if you would like to send your boys down here to Texas for a month I will send them back to you as men of God. ;)

( By the way my necklace is dog tag style one says I can do all things through Christ, the other is a penny with the 10 comandments pressed into it.)

Hey, Christ hung out with the "wrong" crowd. He even ate with them. He was seen with prostitutes, crooks, etc. I'd rather be like him than a pharisee. Hey... I just thought of something. Didn't the Pharisee sect originally form to fight the "liberalism" that was being brought to the jews by the Greeks. No wonder extreme fundamentalists sound like Pharisees. I can actually picture a Pharisee in Christ's day saying something like the above quote to Jesus!

Check out Matt 11:19 out of your KJV:
Mat 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Notice christ was a "friend". Good enough for Christ = Good enough for me!

The Publicans and Sinners Jesus hang around GOT CHANGED!
The Publicans became honest (giving four-fold back to those that cheated)
The harlots were no longer harlots
The Maniac put on clothes and changed his LIFESTYLE!
JESUS turned many away by HIS teaching like the rich young ruler and by others who said they wanted to follow Him. Most people want a "Get out of hell card", so they can live any way they please. A Real dose of Salvation will change a man. (2 Cor. 514) I have something inside me called the Holy Spirit and when I am reading my Bible and praying like I should, He lets me know when I should or shouldn't be doing something. I can either listen to Him or not.

You can't tell me the drug addict and drunkard and harlot (etc.) who gets saved will change a lot of lives for Christ by continuing in that sin.

By the way TINYTIM,
What do you think about the New king james with it's pagan symbol...IS IT STILL HOGWASH?

Point well taken, Christ4Kildare. And I know that I am no youth, either, but I feel compelled to commend the many participants who chose to address the original question with grace and humility. I hope that Bobthebeliever has gleaned helpful insight that edifies both himself and the poster(s).

When hatred invades a thread, it is a temptation to erase it. That would be easy. Where does hatred come from? Is it righteous indignation? Is it really?

Or is this anger really fueled by fear? Fear that God won't truly discern the saved from the unsaved? Fear that we as human beings can be poisoned by simply living side by side with sinners?

Fear that one's own sin is not less than that of homosexuals? Fear that we'll all be judged by the same God by the same standards?

If I were a young person, and indeed I am not, I could not digest such anger, sarcasm and intolerance "in the name of righteousness." Youth is a time of questioning, a time when both conservative AND liberal ideas are tested and challenged. What kind of impression do we adults want to make on youth?

We can certainly be friendly to and show love to all of those who live outside God's will but to become a 'friend' ...... in the true sense of the word... No.

I can work at the Fullerville Mission and help cook a meal for a drug user but to share confidences or bring him into my home... No.

(.... receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." - 2 John 7-11)

friend

A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement: friends of the clean air movement.

"For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them..." - Eph. 5:5-7
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. " - Eph. 5:11
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." - 2 Tim. 3:1-5
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." - 2 John 1:7-11
"Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us." - 2 Thes. 3:6
'And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother." - 2 Thes. 3:14-15
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." - Rom. 16:17,18
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." - Gal. 1:6-9

Since this is a youth forum, and I agree with Christ4kildare, I want to answer your question in the versions/translations forum. See ya there.

You can if you like, but we're forbidden as Christians from engaging in unrighteous judgement. Calling a homosexual a "queer" is not likely to result in sharing of the Gospel with them.
I can't call a Bible with errors a Perversion (which it is)

I will assume from your tone that you're a KJVO. That being the case, you realize that the KJV has errors in it, so it must be a perversion as well.
I can't call Sin SIN (which it is)

No one said otherwise...
But you can call a Christian Brother a "Blatant Liar."

Yep, you posted a blatant falsehood about the Roman Catholic Church. You're either mistaken, or you're a liar. Which is it?

here's a bigger question though... I have a friend who confides in me as he doesn't think his parents will aprove so he doesn't tell his "local" friends because they might leak it, and so he's still "in the closet" so to speak. I've tried witnessing several times... but he wants "no part of a God who won't accept him for who he is"....

this past week he's been feeling very empty and I have a huge feeling that God is working there, I just don't know how to do it without him shutting me out again... he lives in Wisconsin, and I'm in Alaska... so I'm quite confused as to what to do! HELP!

I can work at the Fullerville Mission and help cook a meal for a drug user but to share confidences or bring him into my home... No.
but as I recall, Jesus went into the homes of sinners and ate at their table. I'm not saying I'm going to share every little secret with my non-saved friends, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to include them in things that could ultimately be used for a witnessing opportunity (ie parties, sleepovers, get togethers)

Unashamed Youth: that's exactly the kind of dilemma that's in question..that careful balance between listening and "accepting"..."accepting" or "rejecting"...maybe you've planted some seeds and it's time to let them grow.

thats true i know. will homosexuals be accepted into the kingdom of heaven though? i'm talking about after they admit there a sinner, believe that Jesus is God's son, and commit there life to the Lord. If they even want to be a preacher, but like another guy. Would they still not be accepted into the kingdom of heaven?

The old hacknayed phrase still applies: "Love the sinner, hate the sin." It's old, it's worn, & it's been dissected and abused, but it's still true.

Can you show me this in the Bible?

Doesn't the bible say
Ps 5:5 -
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest ALL WORKERS of iniquity. (emphasis mine)

Hi,

I am a youth leader and have been razzed by my girlfriends because I go to a homosexual hairdresser. Now I didn't know this until down the road. He has shared much about his life with me, he grew to hate religion he was raised in an all boys catholic school. Anyway I have been even scolded by a friend telling me I support his lifestyle by going to him...Hmmm.....anyway Homosexuality is a SIN......Lying is a sin...Stealing is a sin...adultery is a sin. Anyway what I decided to do was love him and reach out to him. For Christmas I made him a basket with a Bible in it. I also have made him Easter baskets with the Gospel message in books. He knows my stand on faith in Jesus Christ. Now if he were to ask me outright do you think I am sinning, in love I would tell him, it doesn't matter what I think, it only matters what God thinks and His Word is clear that homosexuality in a SIN! I know one day this will happen and I wait for it knowing God will lead my words..LOVE THIS FRIEND AS JESUS WOULD but be honest with him. Tell him I love you to much not to tell you the truth.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
—1 Timothy 1:15-16, NIV (Paul speaking)

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.
—Luke 19:10, NIV (Jesus speaking)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
—Romans 5:8, NIV

I know a Gay hair dresser, And I treat him as I would anyother person. I would not abandon a person that lies, therefore I will not abandon a person with homosexual tendencies. I do however distance myself from the "flaming" homosexuals, I find them uncomfortable, and outright annoying.
