Read the posts a little closer. It was first said that they handed out "pro-gay" bibles. It was then corrected to say they handed out "pro-gay" bible studies for youth.

Yeah, I have a problem with that. The pro-sodomite groups are targeting our children with their literature straight off Satan's printing press.

For the record, the sin that led to the destruction of Sodom was the fact that they were arrogant, they were well fed and unconcerned, and they did not care for the poor and needy. Sounds like a lot of baptist I have talked to.

We should all have a burden for the lost - all the lost. When you are posting about how they are going to face the wrath of God and how much of hell is reserved for them, I hope you're having to stop regularly to wipe the tears off of your keyboard.

Awhile back you had a post describing how discouraged you are about God's plan for your life. Alot of people, myself being one heaped tons of encouragement upon you my brother. I grew up a SBC person. Now I travel in IFB circles. Did you think I was such a hard headed pharisee when I tried to lift your spirits? Most of the people who tried to encourage you were SBC people. So why don't you shut your mouth.
Your countrymen didn't take a stand against the homosexual agenda in Canada. Now you can't even preach about homosexuality from the Bible without it being concidered a "hate crime". We don't want that to happen in this country. We must speak the truth in love. Sometimes the truth hurts.

BTW, the next time your down in the dumps go find a Canadian Baptist Board and cry on their shoulders. Since us "American baptists are so mean spirited.

Just an fyi that final version of Bill C-250 from the 2nd Session, 37th Parliament that was passed on September 17, 2003 that added sexual orientation in the definition of identifiable groups that hate crimes can be commited against (this includes heterosexuals) included the following as an exception.

House of Commons of Canada : Bill C-250

(b) if, in good faith, the person expressed or attempted to establish by an argument an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text;

Hence the lack of hate crime arrests of pastors in Canada who preach against homosexuality from the bible.

Wow!! Maybe there is a pro-gay bible out there somewhere. How could you possibly think that arrogance was the sin for which they were destroyed? They tried to rape the men (they were really angels). Where does it say they were well fed and unconcerned for the poor and needy?

It comes from the most explicit explanation of the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah found in the Bible by God's prophet Ezekiel.

NASB - Ezekiel 16:49-50

Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy. Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them when I saw it.

It is undeniable that they also practiced the sin of homosexuality. But that was not one of the sins God chose to explicitly mention when describing what they were guilty of.

Thank you for the scripture lesson. However, it does appear God had two things against them. They were arrogant and they committed abominations. When God saw they were arrogant and saw their abominations, He destroyed them.

Since homosexual acts are specifically called an abomination before God (Lv. 18:22), it is clear that was the abomination God saw and punished them for.

It is very interesting that their arrogance led to their abominations. When a civilation becomes powerful, they seem to decieve themselves into the acceptance of all types of sins, particularly sexual sins.

This is exactly what is occurring in the U.S. and in most western nations.

The following were also abominations before God, many of which the folks at S&G likely practiced.

Coveting the gold and silver from graven images (Deut 7:25)
Wearing the clothing of the opposite gender (Deut 22:5)
Offering the wages of a prostitute to God (Deut 23:18)
Remarrying your first husband after your second one divorces you (Deut 24:1-4)
Cheating customers with different weights (Deut 25:13-16)

But we are talking about S&G, where homosexual acts were known to have been a major problem. Perhaps they practiced all the abominations, but they certainly practiced homosexual acts, and God certainly punished them for it.
