Poor Crabtownboy's story just keeps falling apart.

Turns out a governor WAS installed, and the UNION driver had it turned off.

The speed of the Amtrak train that crashed and killed at least eight people surged from 70mph to 106mph just seconds before it derailed, it has been revealed.
The NTSB said the commuter service was travelling at twice the speed limit when it came off the tracks near Philadelphia's 30th Street station on Tuesday night.
Engineer Brandon Bostian, 32, hit the emergency brakes, but it was too late.
It has also been claimed that 'Positive Train Control' - used to slow the train down - was actually installed but wasn't turned on, leading to the fatalities and more than 200 injuries…...

I'll reiterate my earlier comment that more money wouldn't have stopped this guy from being an idiot.

There is technology available that would override this type of human error. It is on all subway trains in DC and other cities. It would not cost that much per-locomotive and would save lives and property.

But the GOP doesn't see the need of safety of passengers.

It is a Democrat choo-choo and the solution is to get the government out of the railroad business. And no one is going to buy that business because stupid people usually don't have enough money to buy a railroad. It is time to shut down a lot of that passenger service once and for all.

The engineer was going too fast. He should face criminal charges.

Barking up the wrong tree, Crabtownboy. I don't support our roads being maintained by the feds. It comes with too many strings attached. Sorry, wrong argument.

Having worked for the DOT of SC, I totally, 100%, unashamedly agree with you; just like ANYTHING the "reverse Midas" touch of gov't touches.

Amtrak is one of the worst of all pork barrel gov't institutions. Only a scant few of its legs make money or are even utilized by enough people to justify them.

Of course like many liberal inventions, the experiment isn't complete without overpaid and underperforming union employees who think they're "owed" the world.

Can rail make money today? YES.... but not carrying people.

Take the money going to Amtrak and LAY MORE TRACK for freight trains.

PS- My business ships about 40 railcars per month. Sometimes our "switch" is late or doesn't come at all. You see on a "one way" track... the Amtrak train has right of way even if it is going in the WRONG DIRECTION. The indirect costs of Amtrak likely dwarf the outrageously unprofitable direct costs.

Show me now any road in Montana returns a profit to the State budget.

64% of Montana's road funding comes from the Federal Government. Why should I be taxed to maintain Montana's highways? Why should anyone outside Montana be taxes to help Montana?

http://leg.mt.gov/content/Publications/fiscal/FR-2015/Section C/5401-summary.pdf

One good reason is that freight crossing from or to the Pacific NW goes through Montana. Another is that their agricultural output benefits the nation and not just their state.

But on the whole, I agree. Other than interstates, other states shouldn't be paying for Montana's roads.... or Missouri's... or New York's... or anyone else's. It is an intentional use of money to coerce states into obeying the feds when they don't actually have a basis in law. It is corrupt to the core.

AmTrak raked in the stimulus bucks…..

Democrats did not hesitate to call for additional infrastructure spending for Amtrak immediately after the deadly derailment Tuesday evening, despite a $1.3 billion investment in the company from the 2009 stimulus law.

According to Recovery.gov, Amtrak received $1,295,804,688 from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law through a grant from the Department of Transportation (DOT) filed under “Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction.”

The grant noted that roughly 50 percent of the money went to “infrastructure improvements” in the Northeast Corridor.

The funding, all of which has been allocated, paid for 154 individual projects in 46 states, and the District of Columbia. The grant mandated that at least $850 million go directly to infrastructure.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) appropriated $1.3 billion to Amtrak for capital investment,” the grant states. “The ARRA requires that Amtrak allocate $850 million for funding to rebuild and modernize infrastructure and equipment.”

The $1.3 billion from the stimulus law was on top of Amtrak’s $1.488 billion budget in 2009. The stimulus funds were allocated between 2009 and 2011….

I came to these conclusions on my own without anyone's help. I am not repeating what I have heard no matter what you may think.

If you say so. But that seems to be the MO of all the FOX parrots.

Where is Crabby now? He won't come out to play now that the real truth has been revealed.

Been doing some real work in my real life Sag.

By the way, you and others have said all kinds of things, but avoided the real topic which is the Republicans do not care about the safety of the citizens of America.

Please stop parroting the RNC talking points and wake up to what the GOP is doing which for the most part is not at all for your benefit.

Democrats hate working-class commuters.

Lots of folk here and in many major cities commute by train. I'd say the GOP has no regard for them.

Also, it is the GOP who wants to cut all federal funding to highways. Where does that leave those who commute by train.

Wake up Rolf and see what the GOP is trying to do to you. It isn't pretty.

Simply parroting what your handlers in the DNC would say, but with a Republican spin.

...And Democrats hate people.

I see you are still avoiding the topic. Why do you think the GOP is so set on reducing safety standards for the American people?

And as usual you avoid replying on topic with nonsense replies.

So, Rev., why is the GOP so keen to reduce safety standards for the citizens of our great country as articles I have referenced shows?

Your posts are nonsensical political spin that works to gain far left wing political advantage by exploiting a very serious tragedy where lives are lost and people are seriously hurt. It is a shameful political ploy and it disgusts me. Those who do such things are low life pieces of trash. Further your accusations were proven untrue with one single post showing why the vote was actually taken.

Still refusing to discuss the topic. Seems this means you know you are wrong and just want to be a troll and blow smoke and attempt to derail the thread.

So, Rev., again, why is it the GOP wants to reduce safety standards for Americans.

Just for the record here everyone can see this dishonesty from posts like this. I responded with clear evidence disproving the claims made by crabby here in post number three. He then worked to derail his own thread in post number eight.

Here he wants to ignore what I have previously posted and post false accusations.

Crabby you are now exposed. Your behavior is above someone of your age. You should know better. Shame on you.
