Homosexual "marriage" is harmless except to those who get excited about it. Republican empire building and war-mongering, on the other hand, is dangerous to the entire world.

Was wondering if you agree with the Presidents statement that the bible supports gay marriage?

Homosexual marriage is harmless? Can you please elaborate?

Define "supports." Don't think it mentions homosexual marriage.

I ran "marriage," KJV in www.biblegateway.com and got zero results.

The only hit on "marry" was

Genesis 38:8
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

"Married," Genesis 19:14
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Further, Someplace Jesus stated that the sexual act constitutes marriage. Can't remember the citation. Someone on BB should remember it.

Moderator Note: Reminder that BB posting rule #2 states: "...Topics and/or posts that would condone racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including but not limited to adultery, homosexuality, and pornography are strictly prohibited. In addition, topics and/or posts that seek to promote clearly unscriptural and controversial social and moral positions, such as abortion, are prohibited as well." Just a reminder, thanks. LE

Conservative Christians won't support him. You are confusing Conservative with liberal.

I am not a Conservative, so this wasn't really directed at me. But I am curious as to what you mean by "[doing] his best to dish christianity." Not sure I understand your first question.

An honest question, by the way...

hope he did NOT say that, as he just called jesus/paul /God all liars!

"President Obama's decision to endorse {edit} gay marriage staked out a stance that carries uncertain political risks but one he said was rooted in the biblical admonition "to treat others the way you would want to be treated.""
i.e. the golden rule as it is called

"His Christian faith and the golden rule factored in. "In the end, the values that I care most deeply about and she cares most deeply about is how we treat other people," Obama said."

I don't think his new stance will change anything. Any true Christian never supported him in the first place. True Christians are not for same sex marriage, but Christains with a "said faith" do have a propensity to lean towards carnal living. I think his stance will strengthen the conservative right voting block. I can only hope this will draw away the moral within society, what little are left.

was referring to the fact that the president keeps claiming to be Christian, but keeps advocating positions that reflect more non christian views!

IF he wants to claim to be one of us, should reflect biblical standards, not cultural ones!

problem is that God/jesus applies the Golden Rule to us, and they see marriage as ONLY between a man and a woman!

When did God make a law against polygamy?

He didn't scripturally. The closest to a "law against" it are the original stated purpose of marriage ["For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and cleave unto his wife (singular)..."], and then the I Timothy passage about the requirements for both elder and deacon include being "the husband of one wife."

By civil law, if marriage is no longer defined as between one man and one woman, the Utah's condition of statehood [to define marraige that way] can no longer be viewed legally as valid.

I Wasn't Surprised....

....in fact I was counting the days to his announcement. It was going to come, as it had to come, as he is simply pandering for votes.

He will also make a huge statement supporting the need to get the federal dream act through before the elections.

This is a smooth, clever, politician. And I think he is somewhat desperate...

The old codger connected the come-along to the rope around his waist and pulled himself into the tree where he climbed onto the limb, with saw in hand, and then began;
In the scripture we are taugtht to, contrary to the World's opinion, to judge people by their fruits. We are taught elsewhere, John 14:15, that if we love God we will obey what he commands. Then, after we have read the scriptures, we learn that from the creation of Adam, God has demanded personal relationship with Him to be saved.

This, absolutely precludes any possibility of a saved man being consistantly disobedient. Such a man or woman might believe themselves saved but God/Jesus said it Himself that many would say but LORD we did... in your name and that He will tell them to be gone, He never knew them.

So it is that I'm telling you, there is no such thing as a Liberal Christian! There might be a disobedient child of God but no sane person ever waqnts to be found there. So it is that I'm telling you that billwald may be in the 9,000 club (whoopty-do!) but his fruit stinks!

Actually, Obama's statement in support of same-sex marriage did change things for me. I voted for Obama in 2008, but will not do so again. I had already decided not to vote for Obama this year, and this latest announcement sealed that decision for me. I'm not particularly fond of Romney, but he seems to be the only realistic alternative. I'd prefer a third party candidate, but I don't see one who has a chance.

When did God make a law against polygamy?

Properly interpreted in the following Scripture!

Matthew 19:3-9, KJV
3. The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4. And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5. And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6. Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
7. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
8. He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
9. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
