Would you allow for bad decisions in those areas if in return Roe v. Wade was overturned, Jonathan? </font>
I would probably support a Democrat if I knew they would work to overturn abortion! (we could get rid of them for all the liberal stuff they would try to do after they overturned abortion)

But I honestly don't believe Robers or Miers will work to overturn Roe v. Wade. George W. Bush is getting us read for 2008 when the GOP has a pro-choice presidential candidate, he is not interested in ending abortion, there are too many other issues that he cares more about, like destroying the borders, increasing the size of the federal government and pushing through FTAA and the NWO.

That plus she has been helping the president with these great picks that everyone likes so much, such as Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owen, John Roberts, etc. Do you really believe that she helps the president with pro-life picks while being on the other side of the abortion issue? I certainly don't. </font>
You have a point there. I do believe, however, that when the president's poll numbers are low, that instead of going for a fight and uniting his base that he goes for the consensus candidate hand picked by Harry Reid.

If I had to gamble, I would assume that Bush has gotten the ideal candidate and is trying to get under the radar to avoid another Borking. But I also see Bush as a pragmatist when he has to be, so I am a littel worried. But I think if he was going to be pragmatic, he would have gotten someone with a middle of the road record as opposed to someone with no record.

Someone with no record, who doesn't have to answer questions about what she said in the past, and who is recommended and endorsed by Senator Harry Reid. Sounds fairly pragmatic to me.

Well that is the other side of the coin, he might be trying to sneak her past his conservative base, but that would be pretty under handed, and I don't see him as underhanded.
But I don't get the Harry reid thing, but isn't he a Morman, he might secretly want to reverse Roe also.

    Bunyon,

But I don't get the Harry reid thing, but isn't he a Mormon, he might secretly want to reverse Roe also.

That's an excellent question. But I wonder how Reid has voted on other nominees, both Roberts, and lower court nominees who might have been pro-life. Given Hatch's history, though, I don't know that being Mormon is a sure-fire indication of being pro-life. I like Hatch and he is generally conservative, but his support for Ginsburg is very troubling.
