One more thing, you can't tell me these modern versions aren't just to make a buck. Why else would they keep releasing like 2-5 a year? Don't you think that's a bit crazy? You say that the KJV was "Updated" because of it's "Archaic" words. Why then don't we only have ONE MODERN VERSION instead of 200... Like I said, it's all to make a buck. I'm sure you know that Zondervan, the company that produces the NIV, is owned by Harper Collins, which produces all sorts of Gay Material, The Satanic Bible, and all other sorts of filth.

Matthew 7:18 " A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

Just the mere mention of the KJV gets your type all up in the air and then you start with all the accusations.

The OP asks for your favorite version and why. I have said which and why. You brought up KJVO and so did Ann.

Tell me how it is that one can be reading a passage out of anything and be expected to follow while looking at something with different words? Even if it is the Daily News does this also make it a KJVO debate?:tongue3:

Confusion is not relative when one considers the source of the confusion, it is then a matter of instigation.

I brought it up after someone else did. Was the "confusion" not a plug for the KJV? "Everyone's confused when they use a bunch of translations but they're not when we just use the KJV". Guess what? They wouldn't be confused if everyone used the NASB either. But as I said, there's no confusion when translational issues are explained. But that's how our church does it - teach each believer to be able to discern, read and study on their own.

Why wouldn't he be? I'm not saying the new modern versions are outright satanic or anything. One can still be saved reading one. What I'm saying is that in 20 years, things that you say we're making a big deal of will be nothing compared to what they'll be changing then. I'm sure you're familiar with the Homosexual Bible and The Message. It's only going to get worse from here on out.

So you're comparing Biblical scholarship with the Homosexual Bible?

I feel very sorry for you.

Hmm - or maybe it is to keep the Bible as exact and understandable as possible with our full study of ancient languages, new manuscripts and changes in language?

Did you know that the KJV is still produced and SOLD to make money? No? Oh - sorry.

Since the induction of what we all know to be MV's things have done nothing but gotten worse. Good call.

Guess what - sin has been around since even the KJV was published! Hmmm.....

Additionally, what Bible do cults use to promote their false teaching? Not the NASB, the NIV or the ESV. What is that? Right - the KJV.

The KJV is a solid Bible and one that has withstood the test of time - but that doesn't mean it's the only Bible worthy of use and even the KJV translators said the same thing. Maybe you guys should read the notes in the original sometime.

Perhaps if we all just got out and actually started LIVING BY whatever translation of the Bible instead of bragging about whose is better we just might make a difference.

One can only conclude your church is advocating private interpretations. We follow the Bible principle of learned men who are able to teach others also as a body in unity, not individuality to misinterpret as part of soul liberty

I belive means the lost world sees these and does not discern this as what you're implicating is that everyone be a scholar just to fit into the uppity realm of the modern versionist. We're using the K.I.S.S. theory as to make it simple for the simple with our "hard to understand arccaic version". the induction of MV's complicates things for people to have to choose from a multiplicity rather than a simple choice.

Giving God glory for what he does doesn't quite fit into your little box of accusations, that's all I did and yall crawled out of the woodwork!

I can give that a hearty "AMEN!" So few even bother to try to live it. i fail at it quite often myself, but God dusts me off and sets on my feet once again.

Having to stop and explain and retranslate the scripture so that the people can have understanding is keeping it simple? That's a new one on me. Even when I carry my old NKJV and my wife has her KJV and our pastor is using the ESV it is simple to read right along... the words might not be exact, but they say the same thing. Our Sunday School curriculum uses the HCSB alongside the KJV and it is plain to see that they say the same thing, no confusion at all.

By no means am I advocating that you or your church should drop the KJV as this is what you all know and use. You say that was your simple choice and many of us here have made our simple choice. There's no need for anyone to be a scholar to understand God's word, but today's modern versions make that understanding a lot easier on the people who were not raised on the KJV, its style, or its dated words/expressions. Rather than causing confusion and complication, they bring order and simplicity along with understanding.

The Jehovahs Witnesses use the New World Translation to spread their false beliefs.

It's produced much more fruit than other versions? I think that would be an indicator..

Yes but you don't see a new version of the KJV every week..

Given 400 years it ought to have fruit. Give any other modern translation 400 years, with it being the only available translation for most of it, and you would see the same results.

Elohaynu said:
Why not? Most Modern versions only condemn homosexual offenders or "shrine prostitutes"

That's strange... the OT and Romans 1 is still in every bible translation I have, both in print and electronically. Just where do they condone homosexuality again?

Same old hyperbole. it was worthless the first few hundred times, too. But I guess all the different versions, oh, editions of the KJV don't count, right? How often are modern versions updated? The ASB/NASB would be the one with the most updates and I can think of four in over 100 years.

I wish I had been awake in the middle of the night to deal with this before it was sidetracked by those who carry their tired agenda to every thread.

It is too late now to try and sort it.

Thread closed with apologies to those who were attempting an intelligent conversation.
