    That's why I said "almost".

It was a pagan holiday that was adopted by Christians. (Although I never call it Easter, I also don't correct those who do.) But, so many Christians still celebrate it in a pagan way.

So much so that some places have banned the Easter bunny as being too "Christian".

    So, "almost" funny.

We were greatly blessed. Our new church (9 months organized) had its first "Easter". We had 32 attend.

Normally we have dinner and discussion as part of every service. This week the men came early and we had a great breakfast (blueberry pancakes, sausage, fruit, eggs etc) and raucus love-feast THEN our worship.

Singing the great Easter songs brought out an extra "Alleluia" or two!! And after 45 minutes of singing and 15 minutes of prayer we read Isaiah 53 and observed the Lord's Supper.

Of course I preached (message #44 in Romans)

    I. THE POSITION IN CHRIST
    A. United in Death
“For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death . . ” Romans 6:5

    B. United in Resurrection
“. . so also we shall be [united] in His resurrection” Romans 6:5

    II. THE PROVISION IN CHRIST
    A. Our Old Self Crucified
“Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him” Romans 6:6

    B. Our Body of Sin Rendered Powerless
“. . that the body of sin might be invalidated, that we no longer be subservient to sin” Romans 6:6

    C. Our New Self Free!
“. . for he who died has been freed from sin.” Romans 6:7

An easter egg hunt and special kids time and no one wanted to go home! Think if we'd all brought ham and potatoes, everyone would have just stayed all day!!

Had a morning sunrise service with almost 200 in attendance. Mostly international workers and guests. Some from Jamaica, Belize, Mexico... and largely unnoticed by the churches here in Branson. We're hoping to eradicate that problem.

Breakfast at 8. Sunday School at 9.

Another worship service at 10 with almost 500, 1/2 of which were visitors. Several decisions made, great time of worship and preaching, an extra 15 or 20 minutes of worship at the end (which we rarely do!).

    God blessed mightily!

I once heard the man (forget his name) who was "Minister of the Arts" at Judson Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwich Village, New York City, speak about leading Easter services in Washington Square Park. One of the homeless people who were reached by that service came up afterward and said it didn't feel like Easter because you didn't sing "that song". After much questioning it turned out she was talking about, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Alleluia .."

It just ain't Easter without that one. But, speaking as a one-time organist trying to refurbish his skills, it does present some challenges to the old feet!
