Glad you answered, I was thinking there was a problem with public school. I'm a product of the public school system but I'm not sure if that's a vote for or against???

Well, I pray that God gives you and your son the grace to get through public schools, it can be a hard and trying time for a Christian. While I was in public HS my father gave me a book called The Case for Faith by Lee Strobel. It is a pretty easy read, and maybe that will help your son point out some of the inconsistencies... To tell you the truth, I am not a big apologetics fan, but I suppose they might be used as an evangelical tool.

Remember Psalm 1 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."

That term blessed can be translated from the Grk. to mean "happy". I can say, I am pretty happy now that I do not sit in the seat of scorners(public schools)! :)

Me too -- although I do think they (shools) have changed (as has society) since my old self went there.

I do think that each child has to be looked at individually as to school placement. My oldest went to public school most of his school career and turned out just fine (well, he does want to preach, but . . .)

My youngest was in private Christian school most of his school career and he too turned out just fine (not a preacher though). We felt he needed a smaller arena in which to shine. Oldest was gonna be noticed wherever he plopped. (any bets on who's more like me and who takes after Ron????)

In the Christian school that I attended through junior high, we learned in the 7th grade the Kingdom, Phyla, Class, Order, Genus, Species classifcation system. We leared that homo sapiens is a mamal. We also learned the human beings are created in the image of God and that God "breathed" into man and man alone, thus giving him a soul. It was nothing akin to evolution, IMHO.

A few years later they switched to all Bob Jones press textbooks, so I can't know what they taught in 7th grade life science from that point forward.
