The thread is getting a bit off OP
The op is How do you address a Catholic Priest - that is - would you call him Father.

The diversion is using the term Reverend.
I have started a new thread on that -
That pesky title of Reverend

and now back to the OP

I wonder.....how is Paul referring to Christians as their spiritual children not giving themselves the title of "father"?

Are we looking at the context prohibiting calling men "father" correctly?

Well I don't know about Paul but I'm sure Paul wouldn't go against Christ who said in Matthew:

Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

I have a friend who always starts a prayer with Papa!... Brother Glen:)

Btw... Jon it might be of some help if you would give the scripture, or scriptures you are referring to... Not a mind reader!

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." 3 John 1:4

"My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, . . ." Galatians 4:19

“I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.” 1 Corinthians 4:14

“For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” 1 Corinthians 4:15

Thank you Jon... The last one I remembered but it is the first three I forgot... Well I guess the mind goes first, then I do... I'll let the LORD decide that... Brother Glen:)
