How do you explain the decline in baseball's popularity?

The few times I've watched cricket, I felt like I was five again and my dad was trying to explain football.

Hockey is my favorite sport at the moment. Fast paced, minimal rules. Fisticuffs. What's not to love?
Years back, I was in Tampa and went to see the Lightning play (when they were playing at the Trop in St Petersburg). The fans were ignorant of the game. They would cheer loudly for icing, thinking that was a good thing because the puck went to the other side of the rink. It made me laugh.
What I have learned is that most people attend to be entertained, not for love of the sport. They live by the KISS principle...Keep It Simple Stupid.

No no no, you got it all wrong. The right choice is always the Cincinnati Reds.
Obviously we have strong theological differences.

When God finished creation He did not say "Ah....It's OK....I did a decent job of this". He said "it is good".

Applying this principle the choice has to be the Atlanta Braves.

I always knew you were a heretic.

Oh come on, you can play baseball ANYWHERE and I do mean anywhere with just about anything.
I was in the Dominican Republic working on a mission project in Santo Domingo. Vacant lots across the city were being used as baseball fields. Kids were making gloves from cardboard boxes and using any ball they could get. Pick up a stick for a bat and you have a baseball game. It is no coincidence that the best baseball players are coming out of the Dominican Republic.

Let's see....the Cincinniti Reds....

You know what else is red? The Devil and hell fire.
And...Stalin...

I loved the Big Red Machine under Sparky Anderson, in the 70s, but that's about it. Sparky's 1984 "Bless You Boys" Tigers team was one of the greatest teams in MLB history.

Can we all agree that the real devil team is found in a stadium built over the pit of hell in the Bronx?

I am a New York Mets fan and there is no decrease in popularity in the fanbase for my team or the crosstown Yankees. Depending on how either team plays determines attendance and money spent on merchandise. In pro football, there are only 8 regular-season home games. That is why even poor teams draw well. In baseball, there are 81 regular-season home games. It is easy to miss games when your team is in the tank by the end of May.

The Mets have struggled since their last playoff appearance in 2016. They had some great individual performances last season. Pete Alsonso set the all-time rookie home run record. Jacob deGrom won his second consecutive Cy Young award. Jeff McNeil continues to hit like Wade Boggs with a bit more power. I am looking forward to the 2020 season. Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow!

Are Mets fans usually Jets fans, and Yankees fans usually NY Giants fans?
