How Ironic, Christians are Pathetic - Read

Aren't we as Christians (not individuals, as a group) pathetic?

We prefer to fight with one another until we give up instead of talking about reaching others.

Sry, just saw the number of posts for witnessing and then compared it to those for debating and arguing.

You know what I'm saying. Thanks for all how post here. I appreciate it.

It's good we have a loving Father who can see us as we will be not as we are, but who we are in Christ, clothed in His righteousness.

Funny Joseph, but this is too true to laugh at.
It's in our church. Our pastor was talking to the congregation this morning about the damage that is done. Very sad...

I agree, CubeX, we are a sorry lot indeed. Just this morning the pastor was talking about the same thing, and about love, about I Corinthians 13.

We can know all the correct theology in the world, but unless we have love, we have nothing.

That includes reaching out to the lost around us and reaching out in love to our brothers and sisters in Christ, across denominational lines.

We focus on the trivial. Theology won't get anyone to heaven, only the Blood of Jesus Christ will.

Absolutely I agree, we are so divided most of the time that the world just looks at us as hypocrites anyway, because we talk about loving your neighbor, but we don't show it.

Just rememeber Mt. 7:15-23, "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. "You will know them by their fruits. If anyone wants to talk about this, I need some teammates because I am what some may call, a "radical activists", or, in other words, I only have one strick worldview, a Christian worldview. I don't believe in toleration. I believe in patience, but not tolerance. I know that's what God did, I'm sure you all will agree. I believe in boycotting places such as Disney for promoting homosexual lifestyles and MTV for well...just about everything about it!

It's the ultimate challenge that God gave us, to be fully commited to Him. That's in EVERY aspect of our lives. Those who are willing to be witnesses like you profess in this board should ask about it.

You are right, we are pathetic. Even God said man at his best state is all together vanity. We would much rather listen to jokes, play trivial games, and sit and type harsh words and accusations at each other, than witness. If we spent as much time with the Lord and doing His work as we were on the board, a revival would break out all across our great land!!!

CubeX, I posted recently about how many SBC preachers have admitted that they have never, on a one to one basis, led a person to Christ. I also posted about how many churches (SBC) this past year didn't baptize even one person. I got some pretty 'short' replies to my 'insinuations'.

Evangelism is a command! If we listen to the Holy Spirit, He'll open our eyes to opportunities to witness whenever and whereever we are. I think a lot of people are 'uncomfortable' with witnessing and just want to leave it up to preachers and missionaries.

If you think this is sad... we have over 5,000 members and no one needs prayer??? Oh I know, I read the requests and pray for the needs but don't reply there but I'm just shocked at how few prayer requests we get.

Personally, I believe that time spent on this Board can be witnessing. We do not know who is reading our posts. We do not know whom we are reaching with our posts. That is the reason that our moderators and administrators keep this a Christian/Baptist Board. (I appreciate that very much)

I am still amazed that people think that debating is fighting! It becomes fighting when a poster attacks the person and not the subject.
There is a difference. If we were all in agreement, we would never learn. It is easy to agree.

As to prayer requests, Diane, we all need prayer and it should be a standing request that we pray for each other. I think that some people do not post their prayer requests because of privacy and others because they may think their need is insignificant compared to others.

I for one get very irritated by the typical (and common) topic of this thread. Smacks of a holier-than-thou attitude. Get off the internet and get out soul winning.

I just erase 11 "double" posts on this thread because of the program error yesterday. Ugh.

Wish I could have erased the entire thread. But this thread is different, not so "judgmental" and instead looking a little deeper. Thank you.

Maybe that is why some like to preach so much. I have been in churches where it is amazing how every sermon becomes a salvation mesage. Pick a different text and preach away from the text to John 3:16.

Just think about the people who listen to them each week. In the last church I pastored most of the deacons admitted that they were not even reading their Bibles. Some even said they did not have time to even visit people. They lived that out well.

Years ago a search committee called me and asked if I was still interested in them. I told the lady, "Yes." She then asked me if I visited people. I told her I did. She told me, "Good because the men in our church don't have time to go visiting." That was the second time she called me. I noticed that the woman was talking with me while her husband was in the background. Near the end of our conversation I told her I was no longer interested. She was surprised. I told her that she didn't need me to do ministry for them. I expected them to do it with me. I don't want to pastor a church where the men will no lead. If the men are that passive then they don't need a pastor they need to get busy and start leading. Sometimes we must go down before we come up. It is not the pastor's job to do ministry for them. But it is the pastor's job to lead them by example.

Imagine if so many pastors never share their faith how many never disciple anyone.

Walls I would pray for you any time you ask whether I agree with you or not, and I really believe others would too. All you have to do is ask.

I disagree with the "get off the internet" statement. The internet gets millions of visitors a day. Why can't it be used as a means of witnessing? I know for a fact it has helped many. The amount of time I've spent reading my bible seems to have doubled since I've started reading the posts on this board and other Christian sites. Perhaps it's because I'm on the computer a lot (I work in IT and I have to do tons of research for school), but I really disagree with that statement.

I also think this is a good and useful thread. There were a number of other threads that I read that went from "good debating" to "bad fighting" and I just stopped reading the thread.

My pastor relayed a story of how he witnessed to one of his friends for over 20 years. He didn't push, he didn't argue, he just visited often and let him know how much the Lord loves him. It took 20 years, but his friend eventually came to know Christ.

Kim S, I totally agree about staying on the Internet. We need Christianity in all media: radio, television, Internet, newspaper, magazines, everywhere. Especially though, the old fashioned word of mouth, one on one evangelism. But since I've been going to Christian websites, I've learned alot, met nice believers, sharpened my discussion skills, improved my writing ability, shared thoughts and faith with others all over the world: this is very much want Jesus wants us to do--go to all the world with the Gospel.

With Mel Gibson's "Passion" coming out nest week, we need to be getting lost people in there. After that film, they WILL ask questions! Walls, you have a point in saying that everything you say gets twisted against you. I know how that feels! But you know as well as I do what the Bible says about that: You'll be judged with the rod you judge with. So you tell others that if they get bitter against you!

Also, STAY in the media! That's online, on the radio, tv, etc. Send MTV a million emails to stop what they are showing. I don't care! Judge EVERYTHING by God's standards! Be in this world, but don't you dare be of it! God will bless you for it!
