Over the past year or so I've been hearing sermons, reading devotionals, and observing people discuss that we are in the end times. I agree and believe this to be true, however there is one burning question that keeps surfacing to my mind. "Is there going to be one last great revival or awakening in America or even the world before the Rapture comes upon us? Or is America and the world too far gone in which I should just "take a knee and run out the clock" sort of speak and just wait for God to return?" Anyone have any thoughts or theories on this topic? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
We've been in the "end times/last days" since Pentecost (Acts 2) though obviously we are nearer to the final coming of the Lord Jesus for resurrection & judgment than ever before. Only God knows when. There have been periods of falling away & revival down the centuries.
We need to follow Jesus' advice & warning -
Mark 13:
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ”
Are we watching & praying, serving faithfully where we are?
I think that the church is in a poor, carnal state at present, so that any revival is likely to be local, centred on a faithful church, rather than a general revival across the country or the world. Perhaps we should pray & expect revival in the persecuted churches around the world, rather than in our prosperous situation.
