Well, about 99.9999 % of guns aren’t involved in murders but many are involved in self defense and protections for self and family.

Therapy dogs travel 800 miles to comfort Highland Park residents after mass shooting

Bleeding heart commies are relentless to try any/every tactic to take our rights, and the shame is it must work, or they wouldn't keep playing this angle.

Those therapy dogs must be really smart and really fast. They must have heard about the murders from TV. Organized a meeting and voted to travel to the city which they located on a map. Then spend day and night traveling there to offer comfort.

These dogs should get a medal or something.

Please provide the data for this.

I will, without data, state that most guns sit in a locked gun cabinet until used at the firing range or used for legal hunting if animals.
Rarely are they used for self-defense, just as they are rarely used for violence and murder.

Most illegal weapons use happens between rival gangs who are claiming territory (which means they could argue they are defending themselves against aggressors). Do you see the slippery slope?

CDC (quoting FBI) reports about 21,500 deaths by firearms in 2020 which includes murders, self defense shootings, accidents but excludes suicide.

Divide 21,500 by 400,000,000 (number of guns in US) and you get about .00005% which means 99.99995 % of guns never used to kill someone which exactly what I stated.

Please provide any Law Enforcement agency that considers gun use by rival gangs against one another to claim territory as self defense?

Just an observation: when you focus on scripture, you make really good arguments. When you comment on these types of social issues, you make some really stupid arguments, this being one of the latter.

Maybe where you're at. Not so here.

Kentucky's Castle Doctrine

Kentucky's Stand Your Ground

Firearms locked away in a safe are useless if they're in immediate need, whether it's a varmint after your chickens or an aggressor knocking your door down. This is the typical mindset on the topic in these parts.
When I read this, I think of the stories that get reported of a child accidentally shooting another child because an adult didn't put their loaded gun in a locked case.
On average, 1300 children are shot, per year, because of unsecure guns in the house.

Gun Safety
When my oldest was five, he found my dad’s .22 pistol. My dad lived alone and didn’t store it away.

I took it from him, unloaded it and decided to make it a teachable moment. I told him it was a real gun. He should never point it at anyone because it could kill them. I wanted him to feel how heavy it was so I let him hold it, again telling him to never point it at anyone.

He immediately pointed it at me and said “bang, bang”.

I’m not sure very young children can comprehend the danger of guns. Better to keep them secure.

I suspect a child is far more likely to be injured by an unsecured gun than a home invasion.

How many die in car wrecks?
How many kids did due to adults being drunk?
How many people die due to cigarettes?
How many kids die due to Abortion?

...and/or lack of proper teaching by adults. My children grew up as I did as myriads of children have knowing where every gun in the house is and knowing never to touch them.

Irrelevant to this thread. Create a new topic thread. This is specifically about gun use.
1300 children per year, on average, die from guns being fired in the house by accident. This is fact. You have to deal with this fact on this topic thread, or go create a different thread for your other topic.

1300 per year is small in comparison to other causes. You and the other leftists are not concerned about kids. If you were, you would not support and enable abortion. You seriously want to get up in arms about 1300 when they are being butchered en masse by abortion?

Sorry, I don’t know how to “link” from my phone.

I just googled total US gun deaths and sifted through the sites until I found a reference to CDC quoting FBI data.

POTUS just referenced 400,000,000 guns in US in a speech within the last week or so. I’m assuming his numbers are accurate. I’ve heard 350,000,000 guns in US but it’s been several years ago. I guess it made news because it equaled or surpassed US population.

From the article I posted. This quote is the data that goes against rednecks post

Myths About Guns
  • Some parents believe that hiding their guns will prevent children from accessing them. However, 75% of children who live in homes with guns know where they are stored.
  • Many parents think their children are not capable of firing a gun. However, children as young as 3 years old may be strong enough to pull the trigger of a handgun.
  • Parents believe their children know the difference between real guns and toy guns, but in 16% of unintentional firearm deaths among children younger than 13 years of age, the gun was mistaken for a toy.
  • Parents often believe their child would not touch a gun because “he knows better.” However, studies have found that most children will handle a gun if they find one, even if they have been taught not to.
  • Some parents consider non-powder guns, like BB, pellet, and paintball guns, to be toys. These guns, which can fire at the speed of traditional guns, lead to nearly 22,000 injuries each year, especially eye injuries.

I won’t speak for AustinC, but I’m certain he is prolife. He can correct me if I’m wrong.

The 1300 are all preventable if adults safely locked the guns away. Not everyone grows up in a household that teaches firearm safety.
