I remember a year or so, someone here at BB put it like this. If you see an attractive girl walking down the street and she catches your eye, that is temptation. If you circle the block so you can look at her again, that is sin.
Proverbs 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Consider the context of these verses:
Verse 27 is the last verse of chapter 4. Originally there were no chapter divisions. This is how chapter 5 begins:
Proverbs 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Here's another one...

Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Yes, that is precisely what I am speaking about.
What is the difference to "admire" or "think upon"?

I've always had a problem with this view.
For example, does it give one permission to go to a "Victoria Secret" website, gawk at women in lingerie and then just say: "I am looking and admiring beautiful women without giving into temptation."
The premise, as stated, gives rise to a slippery slope that can go down a very steep slope. The command of the Bible is to keep our eyes focused on those things that are pure and lovely and will not draw us into temptation.

I am sure that when the Israelite men went among the Moabitish women they were attracted to them visually. Was that attraction sin? Or, was it just the actual giving into the attraction and the resultant fornication that was sin? God forbad them not to mix with the Gentiles for a good reason.

The video came as a result of the rape that was made so public in India, and also because of the way that women are being treated in India.
I just wanna say I'm glad I have filtering on my computer that blocks swimwear and underwear websites. :praying: thank God.

Or Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.

There really is no difference between to admire and to think upon.

For me I KNOW it's a sin to have a lingering stare or to take a second look, because it's always for sensual and carnal reasons.

I often here various criticisms "around here", criticisms of things like "the roman road", "easy believism" etc. Criticisms of the like ignore the the inability of each of us to peer into the heart of someone else, which is only the privilege of God. It also demonstrates a shallow performance based relationship with God rather than one based on God's grace and mercy. Furthermore, it makes it a fair target for the challenge of "salvation by works", which by the way is the very same charge that many of "these" level against others.

So I ask, How many times in a given day do you sin?

A. 1 or less
B. 1-3
C. 3-5
D. 5-10
E. I need a calculator
F. I need to review the rules of scientific notation

All depends on which part of wach day, as can go some time between active sinning, but also depends if its me od God answering that question, as i am sure he sees it much higher amount than I do!
