How to Repent

The churches talk about repentance but never define it except in vague ways. Scripture is explicitly clear on how this is done, over and over. This is a major step in salvation that is often overlooked. Lets find out how.

The Gospel Message:

Mat_4:17 From that time יהושע began to proclaim and to say, “Repent, for the reign of the heavens has drawn near.”

What is sin:

1Jn 3:4 Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

How to repent:

Deu_30:8 “And you shall turn back and obey the voice of יהוה and do all His commands which I command you today.
Deu 30:9 “And יהוה your Elohim shall make you have excess in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground for good. For יהוה turns back to rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,
Deu 30:10 if you obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim, to guard His commands and His laws which are written in this Book of the Torah, if you turn back to יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being. ​

The repentance formula:

Eze 18:21 “But the wrong, if he turns from all his sins which he has done, and he shall guard all My laws, and shall do right-ruling and righteousness, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.
Eze 18:22 “All the transgressions which he has done shall not be remembered against him – in his righteousness that he has done, he shall live.
Eze 18:23 “Have I any pleasure in the death of the wrong?” declares the Master יהוה. “Is it not that he should turn from his ways, and live?

Psa 119:9 How would a young man cleanse his path. To guard it according to Your word?
Psa 119:10 I have sought You with all my heart; Let me not stray from Your commands!
Psa 119:11 I have treasured up Your word in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Psa 119:12 Blessed are You, O יהוה! Teach me Your laws.​

New Testament admonition:

Act 3:26 “To you first, Elohim, having raised up His Servant יהושע, sent Him to bless you, in turning away each one of you from your wicked ways.

Repent to get the Spirit:

Act 2:38 And Kĕpha said to them, “Repent, and let each one of you be immersed in the Name of יהושע Messiah for the forgiveness of sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Set-apart Spirit.
Act_5:32 “And we are His witnesses to these matters, and so also is the Set-apart Spirit whom Elohim has given to those who obey Him.”

Final Warnings:

Rev_3:3 “Remember, then, how you have received, and heard. And watch and repent. If, then, you do not wake up, I shall come upon you as a thief, and you shall not know at all what hour I come upon you.
Rev_3:19 “As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. So be ardent and repent.​

David is a great example of a person repenting. Once he realized his sinned he turned from that sin and never committed it again.

Once saved always saved is a false doctrine. You must endure until the end (obey). You can always reject the gift by being in open rebellion (disobedience).

Tell me: If someone once knew Him, then later failed to endure and disobeyed, how could Jesus say "I never knew you"?

What does "shall not" mean?

Hearing His word means you keep the commandments (He is the word and only speaks the Father's word) If you stay in obedience then you shall be saved.

Iniquity = sin (lawbreaking). If you openly practice disobedience you never did know Him in the first place. They proclaim His name, but did not do what He said:

1Jn_2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens.

Luk_6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

If you are depending on your keeping the commandments to stay saved, you are trusting in yourself instead of trusting Jesus Christ.
One keeps the commandments because they are already saved by believing on Jesus Christ.

Faith = trusting in the promises of YHVH
Works = actions taken that verify your faith.

Obedience is not trusting in yourself, it is bowing to the will of the King. If you don't abide in them, then you do not love Him.

Jason is not saved. Jason does not believe Jesus is God, nor does he believe the Holy Spirit is God.
Jason is a modern day Judaiser, one whom Paul condemned in his writing to the Galatians.
Jason has been deceptive from the moment he came on this site. By his own standards he is not saved. He falls woefully short. He's dead in his trespasses and sins. Jason needs to repent.

You're right. He's teaching works for salvation. Repent, regarding salvation, is to change your mind about your old belief system and trust in Christ's blood on the cross and his burial and resurrection. When we believe in that gospel without our works, then we are saved.

Matthew 19:17 is a great verse where Jesus is clearly claiming to be God, YHWH himself. Yet, you are blind to seeing this truth, Jason.

I need the Church started by Jesus Christ and it's Bishop who is presently here on this earth.

1 Thessalonians 5:12 states: "We ask you brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you".

Acts 8 says: 29 " The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him".

We have the people whom God has placed over us for the proper instruction of the Scriptures and we are not to make things up by ourselves as we go along our faith journey.
