How to Respond to Horrifying Sayings of Jesus

God is so often pictured today as the Big Santa in the sky. Jesus Christ is pictured as a pitiful person begging people: "just trust me". We would do well to remember Scripture:
Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Wow! Our pastor this morning mentioned how we treat sin like fluff when what it is something that completely separates us from God.
This really brought it home. . . Slaughtered before His eyes. Oh, dear God, please give me a passion for sharing the Gospel.
