The Bible says:
Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Lets analyze the diverse details of the verse above by the Word of GOD, as follow:
First this Scripture was revelead and refers to this current perilous time of Apocalypse in which we are living.
The terrible event described in the verse above will happen in time ahead, not so far, because it is within of the last week, week 70th Daniel 9:26-27 that is about to begin. First a false messiah must be manifested ->
2Thessalonians 2:1-4 combined with Revelation 13:11, and so on.
Furthermore, we must know and remember that the woman is clothed with the Sun(Revelation 12:1), that is, she is clothed with the radiance of the light of JESUS, the Word made flesh, the Greater Light-Genesis 1:16->, the Light of the world (John 12:46 combined with Malachi 4:2 and John 12:35, among many other biblical references, take a look).
THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, HOW?
How can the Sun be darkened? This has nothing to do with a physical phenomenon like an eclipse, for example. No, it doesn't, but
it does have to do with Revelation 9:1-4 and 7 and 11, as follow:
1 And the fifth angel sounded,and I saw a STAR fall from heaven unto the earth:and to HIM was given the key of the bottomless pit->
(Revelation 20:1-And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand).
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great FURNACE;
and the Sun and the air were DARKENED by reason of the SMOKE of the pit.→like the FURNACE)
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts

and unto them was given Power, as the SCORPIONS of the earth have power.

7 And the shapes of the locusts

11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
The comment above is about why THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, and clarifies how and when this event will happen, and shows that this event has nothing to do with physical phenomenon. The Scripture also says that the moon will not give its light, of course. It because

Lets analyze why, yes, why THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT
Well , it is easy rto understand because since the Sun will be darkened, then the moon will not give its light, of course. The question is that the Sun is JESUS(the Greater Light), and the Moon is the person of Holy Spirit(the Lesser Light), as JESUS said:->JOHN 16:13-15 combined with JOHN 15:26, take a look for beter understand. That said, we must understand that the woman has the moon under her feet (as her support), therefore, without the light of the Greater Light-JESUS, in the midst of the last week, week 70th Daniel 9:27 and 12:9-12, take a look) the Comfort, the Holy Spirit (the lesser light), can not give his light, then the woman will be enveloped or shrouded in dense darkness, because the Sun DARKENED.
WHAT DOES ZEPHANIAH PROPHESIED ABOUT THIS TERRIBLE EVENT?→ Zephaniah 1:15-> That day is a day of wrath (Revelation 11:18), a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness.
And Amos prophesied: Amos 5:18→ 18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
