Hey - God had 2 children that He had direct contact with daily. He walked with them and spoke to them - yet they still sinned. Did God fail? If even Adam and Eve disobeyed God, do we think we're better than God?

Annsni, it is soo sad to see the same legalists give bad advice over the internet again.

I can't wait until one of you all that like to throw stones pick up a boomerang, and get's hit by the same junk you throw at others.

One day, God will judge you all for all your hatefulness toward others..

Here is your slogan for today...
Post it somewhere and read it over again.. or maybe you have...

"No one is as perfect as I am"

    This place kills me...
Why is it you can always tell that if a person's screen name has a certain 3 letters in it, in a certain order, they will turn out to be hateful?

I have yet to see someone come to BB with these three letters in their screen name.. sometimes followed by a date... that shows grace and mercy to others.

Has others noticed that? That speaks volumes about that movement.

People don't deserve the title of pastor that show this much lack of love for hurt people...

It is easy to see who are wolves in sheeps clothing if you look close enough...
They are waiting to pounce all over the sheep, and devour them... if they ever get out of line.

That my friend does not describe the Christ we Christians are following.

    Tim,

I agree with everything you said!

It seems that adultery, homosexuality, drunkenness, etc are OK to blast, but meanness and hatefulness are just fine. Best I can figure, they are sins too.

Yes, let's call sin sin - I agree. But, let's also call hatefulness sin, and meanness sin too.

We need to remember that we're told to speak the truth in love.

And you're also right, something about those three little letters arranged in a certain order often turn out to be mean, hateful, legalistic people. What a shame.

A pastor that has so much pride, is not qualified to hold that position.

I would run from a social clique called a church that had a pastor that is always slamming members...

That pastor is not a pastor, but a dictator...

Satan tried to replace God, and a lot of pastors are doing the same thing...

Ok Not one of us is perfect, BUT our children MUST be. I understand your point , and I understand 1 Timothy. But I am not sure that the scripture applies to a 21 year old adult who sins regardless of the home address.

Getting back to the OP. Why not support the pastor in prayer and trust him to follow the Lord's leading in this situation? If he's been through this before, the devil just might be using this replay of the past to discourage him and make him want to stop serving the Lord.

These parents did the responsible thing by letting their daughter stay home where they could care for her and mentor her, instead of dumping her into the street to become another welfare statistic. That doesn't sound like people who are unfit to be in the ministry. It sounds like they are willing to forgive as Christ did.

Why is it that we Christians want to hit our brothers and sisters when they are down, instead of lifting them up? I think it's because of pride. By making them a spectacle of shame and evil, we pump ourselves up to look holier. I know because I've been guilty of it myself!

My youth pastor's boy just did something very stupid at school. He was arrested and will face trial soon. He may be expelled. The pastor asked me if he should resign. First, if anyone tries to accuse him of not ruling over his home I'll ask him or her to pick up and throw the first stone if he or she has raised their children perfectly. I don't know of any who could. Secondly, I'm no so much concered about what the boy did. He did it and there's no taking it back. What I want to know is how it is being handled in the home. I see a dad who is dealing properly with this situation. This boy is wishing he had never done this. There's no protection from the legal system. The boy is going to have to work to pay for what he tore up. License is pulled. Dad and mom have been open about it in the church. I see a man who has kids who aren't perfect but is in great control of his home.

It's not about pride or legalism. It's about what the scriptures tell us is right. This girl is rebellious, disobedient to her parents, driven by her lusts rather than the Will of God.

Too many want to justify other's sins. These are definitely the last days where even those that are in the church are despisers of those that are good and seek to follow the Will of God. They deny God, and scripture.

    2 Timothy 3:1-3 (KJV)
1: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2: For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3: Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

    2 Timothy 3:5-7 (KJV)
5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6: For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7: Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Corinthians, chapter 5 isn't about legalism either.

It's about people in the church who are puffed up, and have not rather mourned.

    1 Corinthians 5:2 (KJV)
And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Those that are without God judgeth.
    1 Corinthians 5:13 (KJV)
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Most people have that backwards. I'd like nothing more than to see this girl repent and come back to God's Will. That's up to her.

For those who believe God is all about forgiveness, he is, but God also rebukes and chastises as many as he loves.

    Revelation 3:19-22 (KJV)
19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21: To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

    Matthew 7:14-15 (KJV)
14: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

    Luke 6:46 (KJV)
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

    Matthew 7:21 (KJV)
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Watered-down and lukewarm attitudes will not lead anyone to true repentance.

The lukewarm God will spew out of his mouth.

    Revelation 3:15-16 (KJV)
15: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

    Jude 1:23 (KJV)
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

    Luke 13:3 (KJV)
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Unless this girl repents on her own she will perish. She knows the scriptures and has gone her own way. She's a prodigal.

It's not that some of us are uncompassionate. It's that we know the scriptures and know where this girl is headed without repentance.
It's her choice whether or not she decides to change.

You have to also remember those who do not like to retain God in their knowledge can be turned over to a reprobate mind.

    Romans 1:28-29 (KJV)
    28: And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29: Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Hopefully that won't happen in this girl's case, but she will have to decide before it's too late.

    [personal attack snipped]

You ever had a church member call you on the phone in hysterics and have to literally had to fight your self in to help them?

Ever get a call that you had to come into the city there is an emergency with one of your church members at 2 in the morning and have to wade right through a gang to get them?

Ever have a fellow put a gun to the head of one of your sons and threaten to pull the trigger?

Ever been shot at? Ever preach armed.....while the police were watching the doors of your building?

I have!! Listen bud, I have people that were filthy, ungodly dopers whisky drinkers call me every now and then and cry on the phone thanking me for bringing them to Christ. NO LOVE?? What are you talking about. Just because I put a :praying: unter a stupid post that didn't make a bit os sense...I have no love?

You say I don't deserve the title of a Pastor. I agree with you 100%
However you will have to take that up with the Lord, He is the one that put me here.

{SNIP} If I offend you well, you will just have to get in line. I'm not here to win your affection.

    If you want to "report" me too, have at it. {SNIP}

    {SNIP-off topic; translation arguments are for another thread}

Bingo! That's why her father isn't responsible for her sin and should not be treated as guilty. She is now a grown adult. He may need to use some "tough love" but I don't feel he should lose his pastorate over this.

It's her choice, because we can't force people to follow Christ.
    She is in his house.

These verses should have been implemented before her first pregnancy.
    Exodus 20:12 (KJV)
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

    Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

    2 Timothy 2:22 (KJV)
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

    1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 (KJV)
3: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
    4: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5: Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

Thank you for all who have responded to this thread.

In the situation described, yes the daughter sinned. Yes, her sin is based on her choice to disobey what God commanded her to do. Is her sin exceeding sinful before God? Of course it is. But is her sin any worse then the sin that each of us commit throughout each and every day?

One thing that I could not understand from some who posted that this young lady should “confess” her sin before the church, why? Will you go before the church this Sunday and confess before the congregation the lustful thoughts you had this week? Will you confess the gossip you participated in this week? Why should one sin be “confessed” before the church and not all of the others in our lives? In Matthew taking a matter before the church is the last step after all other steps have been taken to bring the offender to repentance and restoration.

Throughout the ministry of Jesus, He did condemn sin, but He also taught restoration. If He was not passionate about restoration, why did He leave the glories of heaven to die on a cross so we could be restored to Him.

As far as the Pastor’s fitness for ministry, before we hurl too many stones, how fit are each of us? We want to net pick the phrases apart in 1 Timothy 3, yet not much is said about the first requirement; being blameless. Have every one of your actions and every single thought been blameless this past week? Each one of us should examine ourselves on a regular basis.

By loving in a nurturing manner, no one is “sweeping this matter” under the carpet. The Pharisees in John chapter 8 wanted to hurl judgment upon the adulterous woman. Jesus however said he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone and then told the woman, neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.

What if God had given up on us as quickly as some give up on this young woman? Or on this family? Or on this Pastor? Or on this church? We are all deserving of eternal condemnation, yet Jesus did not give up on us and refuse to die on the cross. Where is God’s mercy and grace in all we do?

As far as a mass exodus of young people from the church, I have observed just the opposite. When matters are dealt with undo harness and love is not shone, people leave. When forgiveness and restoration are embraced, then mercy and grace are demonstrated. For those who have condemned without any attempt to show love and compassion are not demonstrating the love Christ demonstrated.
