I memorize scripture and quote from it often when preaching. But questions on why the Bible is true and why Christ existed go beyond scripture and are best handled by books.

I disagree. Basic apologetics are essential knowledge.

So, the bible does not teach that the bible is true? In order to learn that you have to read some other book?

Actually one of the easier questions to answer using only the Bible. You should be able to find 10 OT prophecies about Christ's birth and life that were historically fulfilled. Then there are archeological finds.
