Make that just wondering :)

Xp is no longer supported.
Xp runs 1 in 4 computers world wide.
Explorer suddenly has a huge hole in security.
Xp's explorer will get no fix.
Silly me but is this a little more pressure to update?

By the way the 18 meg explorer update you may have gotten is not a fix for this hole - it is a fix for another hole that had not been announced.

Yes, my wife's computer is still on XP and lately it's been locking up, something it never did in the past 11 years. Coincidence? I don't think so.

So needed to update. Didn't want a cookie cutter machine with Windows 8, so went out and bought components and will build her new machine this weekend. Teenage son talked me into getting a higher end graphics card, "as long as you're building it from scratch...and shouldn't I be able to use it too...?"

I was surprised that no major manufacturer makes a machine with a good graphics card anymore.

Some of the etailers have some gaming units but off the shelf stuff is pretty lame anymore. Last couple we've bought were even less than I had been looking for.

I find it hard to believe 1 in 4 machines today still operate on XP. But I did get rid of mine a few months ago, it was a very old PC that was on it's last leg anyway. But I really don't like Windows 8. Hopefully 9 will be along and replace this .

The national news used 1 in 4 as their talking point a time or two. Many gov. systems are still xp. OR is just now updating to 7 in some of their departments. They use old software programs that can't run on new stuff so they are slow to change due to slow development of their programs.

Government systems don't use XP. I know.

Well ... at least until October 2012, the Navy was still using XP; not sure if they've finally made the change to Windows 7.
