How disturbing that you find it enjoyable that a man was shot and believe medals are in order… regardless of his occupation.

Atrial fibrillation or a-fib, as it is affectionately called, is not that uncommon even in people 20-30 years younger than the victim in this case.

Most of the time, it does not require hospitalization at all and is controlled by medication.

Severe cases may require hospitalization for 2 or 3 days, shocking of the heart, installation of a pacemaker, or even surgery in extremely rare cases. It is not usually fatal. Strokes are the most common and serious side effect and blood thinners are used extensively to help prevent that eventuality.

 

Common medictions include:
(Educated guessing based upon a known history of heart attack with implanted defibrillator).

1. A beta blocker, such as Toprol, Lopressor/metoprolol, Atenolol, many others... lowers BP, slows the heart, decreases cardiac workload side effects: fatigue

2. Aspirin, probably the most common and effective anticogulant prescribed to the vast majoriy of heart patients. side effects: increased chance of bleeding

3. Plavix, another widely used anti-platelet medication used in conjuntion with aspirin. side effects: increased chance of bleeding

4. Maybe an ACE inhibitior: many different flavors: like Altace or lisinopril (Zestril, Prilivil), drugs that decrease the blood pressure and decrease the workload of the heart. side effects: none particularly, some people complain of a dry cough

5. The above may be used in combination with a diuretic such as hydrochlorithiazide (HCTZ), used to help the body eliminate extra fluid that develops with heart failure. side effects: increased need to urinate

6. A calcium blocker slows the heart rate, decrease heart contractions, relaxs heart muscle

7. Perhaps a nitrate, used to dilate coronay blood vessels, may even be applied as a patch. side effects: headache initially

The use of alcohol should be restricted but is not contraindicated with any of these medications.

I'd guess the VP is on at least 5 of these 7 medications.

Earlier I said that from the look of the wound in the Wildlife report and what I personally know about shotguns that Mr. Whittington was shot at much closer range than 30 yards and 10 to 20 feet would be my guess. Well, Alex Jones went out and bought a 28 gauge shotgun yesterday and some 2 3/4 shot shells filled with #7 1/2 shot and did some tests. He has come to the same conclusion, Whittington was hit from 15 to 18 feet not the 30 yards the "authorities" are claiming.

I haven't watched the video yet as it's taking a long time to download with my DSL. However, this would seem to indicate that Whittington's injuries are much more serious than being reported and somebody isn't being honest with us and covering up the real facts of the shooting. After having said that, I'd like to say once again that I believe that this incident was an unfortunate hunting accident. But they are not being honest about it. So, now my question is...why lie about it at all? I'd like to hear Mr. Whittington's side of the story BTW.

Seven and a half foot shot pattern at thirty yards so I wasn't that far off guessing a six foot pattern at that distance.

Thanks Poncho, I also believed that this was a misfortunate accident but Cheney should have made some statements to the mainstream press as soon as possible. This incident did not do wonders for his image because of the delay of reports.
Mr. Whittington is recovering and has made a statement that this was an accident/
I still question the accounts that Cheney was 30 yards away and cannot understand why they still stick to this 30 yard theory. Irregardless of of how close Cheney was when he accidently shot Mr. Whitington the facts need to be reported with more accuracy as this will lead to all types of speculation. The Vice President needs to consider his position as a trusted public official when accounting for his actions.
