Hurricane Dorian

You might want to predestine yourself out of there for a couples days.
I'm thinking about it. If the track doesn't change we can bug out to Georgia. Of course, if we leave and our home is damaged I won't be there. The traffic on 95 or 75 won't be pretty if we wait until Sunday. There is nothing like a hurricane to remind us how small we really are.
I live here in the Orlando area. I don't know anyone who is talking about evacuating. Floridians (those of us who were born here) are used to to hurricanes. While it is currently forecast to come across central Florida, we will not know for sure for a few days where it will go. The spaghetti models are often wrong.
Lol. I live a little north of you in South Eastern Orlando. Hurricane prep continues, but should be done tomorrow I hope. Three hurricanes in a few years (Matthew, Irma, now Dorian) reminds me of 2004's triple whammy (Charley, Frances, Jeanne).
My first hurricane was Frederick in 1979. It slammed into Biloxi. I was at Keesler Air Force Base at the time. Being a Jersey boy I was not used to a storm like that. I have been through some others since then. Irma took part of our roof. I doubt I will leave. After Irma people returning home from north of Orlando were running out of gas because the highways were at a standstill.

Palm Beach here. Now, they're saying it's going to make landfall at Cat 4. Got all my preps done. Just got to go get some beer and top off the gas tanks and we're good to go.

Miami here. Starting to breathe a sigh of relief down here, but we are still in the cone. Still have to preparations --- just in case.
The American model has it hitting around Cocoa Beach. European model has it hitting in Fort Lauderdale. Giving you a heads up.
My older brother and extended family live in Leland, NC, less than 10 miles inland from the coast. Their houses are designed to withstand 130 mph winds, but not large objects being carried by 130 mph winds, so they retreated to a Charlotte hotel. Grandkids were having a blast, as in "Mommy, can we have another hurricane soon?" Younger brother lives near Canaveral, will likely head for their vacation place in upstate AL.

European model is usually more accurate. We're just up the road from Ft Lauderdale.
Thanks. Definitely keeping an eye on things and still prepping -- as a I guess we all are. I still remember Hurricane Andrew and it was supposed to turn north -- and never did. Waiting for the 5pm advisory.
Per my observations the news ...always predicts ...the worst but 95% head north and fizzle out before they hit land. I think I'd rather face the face the hurricane than have to sit in traffic! Sorry guys, but by luck of the draw it seems God has predestined me to be in Arizona and work on my tan next month before the weather cools,

It is those who are visiting or live here but were not born here that clog up the highways. Those who live on the coast tend to come inland during the storm which is smart but other than that true Floridians weather the storm.
The Weather Channel said there was some pocket of air so they don't expect Dorian to get up past Georgia. I think it's current trajectory is to Melbourne.
Surprised so many here live in Florida, but then it is a huge state. I have always heard retirees from here (Left Coast) go to Hawaii and Arizona but east of the Mississippi, it's Florida. Hope there's a generator or two on hand and prayers to you all.

I was in Tequesta (Jupiter) most of today. Gas stations already have long lines. The Tequesta police had officers at a few gas stations to keep order.

The lines at the Wawa in Wellington were pretty long, but they had people in and out in a hurry.
