I ain't getting her out of Florida

My older brother and his wife live as nomads in an RV, usually around the Great Lakes (MI, WI, MN) in the summer, SE coast in the winter. TRUE snowbirds, south in the winter, north in the summer.

My wife and I love Lake Eerie area, IN the summer, but both of us are homebodies, we love our little homestead in the hills of KY.

Just saw on TV - the winds are at a sustained 180 MPH gusting to 200+ MPH.

And Dorian is tracking a bit more westerly then yesterday's forecast. I was just listening to NOAA weather radio and it said that Dorian's path will remain unpredictable until the eye has completely passed Bahamian waters. It can then slam right into Florida, skirt the coast, or veer northeast towards Bermuda. The next 12-18 hours will tell the tale.

One of my customers is the Office of Marine and Aviation Operations at Lakeland Linder Airport. The crews that fly into hurricanes on specially equipped P-3 Orion aircraft have nerves of steel.

Keep safe. My sister and her family arrived (from Cape Canaveral) at my place yesterday until the storm passes.

Aside from the wind speed the water level in the storm surge has the possibility of being greater than has ever been seen. There is no telling what that would look like if it happens. The possibility of drowning is the dangerous part. Pray it doesn't.

Good choice to leave that area! I heard a General talk about the possibilities of a 23' or even greater storm surge and Cape Canaveral is like 0-5' high.

Is it me, or has all the expense for over a week burned you all out too emotionally? I have seizures from stress though, so that means this stuff is way worse on my health than other peoples' health.

Fortunately, for Florida, Dorian has been a non event. Prayer for the Bahamas. Complete devastation.

So, I had to take down the shutters and "un-prep" the house. It appears that I did all that work for nothing since Dorian totally missed South Florida. Probably lost 8 hours time total in prep/"un-prep" work. I would take this deal every single time.
Right "better safe than sorry" to quote a cliche.
