XMZ, you said in your OP that the man in the video was very wise.

Again, I ask you, do you agree with him that Christians are "village idiots"?

no i am not snowe, crabtownboy, or alatide so stop your loco fear
Frank Schaeffer and MSNBC has the right to express their opinion.

The basic tenet of this piece is that 1/3 of "Conservative Christianity" either believe or don't know if our president is the antichrist.

First of all, I am a Conservative Christian and I don't believe he is the antichrist. He claims to be a Christian and by his attendance at a church with the word "Trinity" in it indicates that he is not even an antichrist muchless the antichrist.

Personally I would agree with some of what Mr. Schaeffer is proposing, on the other hand I see the old trick to find a looney-toon and lump him/her/it together with innocent bystanders.

People look past the facts and see only the phrase "Christians".

Those facts being:

We are told that 1/3 of "Conservatives" in NJ either believe or don't know if our president is the antichrist.

We are not told the definition of "Conservative".
We are not told how many were questioned or the demographics of the questionare apart from "conservative" or NJ.
We were not told how many were in the "don't know" category.

Schaeffer went from "conservatives" to "Christians" in one fell swoop.
Christians were denigrated because many of us don't hold to secular humanists teachings.

IMO it was a bait and switch bash from "conservatives" to Conservative Christianity in general.

Of course the "racist" trump card was played.
Of course we were accused (obliquely) that we are dangerous and will resort to violence.
Of course the "left" looney-toons and their danger to society were not brought up.
Of course the accusations of Pelosi and other leftists against us as Nazis, etc was not mentioned.

The second piece was a vitriolic attack against so-called right wing "looney toons", however, the bait and switch tactic was again deployed.

It appears to me and is my opinion that they (Schaeffer and companions) are waiting for one of these "looney-toons" to do the unspeakable and then blame Glenn Beck and/or Rush Limbaugh for the deed no doubt to silence them in the name of national security.

We ought not to be surprised. Politics as usual in spite of the promise for "change".

Let's prove MSNBC, Rachel Maddow and Frank Schaeffer wrong at the ballot box.

BTW here is a link to the poll information.

I just watched the video and ... what a moron!!! You've GOT to be kidding!!

Here are some things he said:

The fact is there is a subculture that is a fifth column of insanity that is bred through birth, homeschool, Christian school, Evangelical college to reject facts as a matter of faith.

Quite funny - but wrong. What facts? That there is no God? Sorry - that's certainly not a fact..

Can Christianity be rescued from Christians?

Who owns Christianity? What do they consider "Christianity"?

When you see a bunch of people going around thinking the president is the Antichrist [which the poll results were that 1/3 of the people either believed he was or didn't know - that's certainly not an across-the-board belief of all Christians], you have to draw one of two conclusions: 1)racist - looking for any excuse to level the next accusation or 2) they are beyond crazy. [and he said that "beyond crazy" is the most likely choice]

Christian subculture has rotted the brain of America

This group of people who are resentful because they've been left behind by medernity, science, education, art, literature. The rest of us our getting on with our lives and these people are standing on a hilltop waiting for the end.

I'm too busy to wait on a hilltop. Jesus will get me doing His will - raising my children to love Him, working to earn a living, telling others about Christ and growing His church. I'd love to stand around waiting for Him - but that's not what He told me to do.

He goes on to say that fundamentalist Christians (which is a term that has changed in the last 40 years, as we see on another post) are the "village idiot" - that they distrust facts. He finishes out with this quote:

I don't see anyone in the republican party who has the moral standing to provide real leadership.

Those were the things that I caught as I went through the video. Of course I'm watching this video as I indoctrinate my children with the lies of grammar and spelling as I homeschool them. ;)

As I said in the beginning, the man is a moron.

Yes, there is a group of extremists - but it's true on both sides.

Yes, there are those who think Obama is the Antichrist and some who aren't sure. I am on the side of "I don't know". I'm not God so I can't say that he is or isn't, so I'd be in the 1/3 of what he'd consider, I'm sure, the height of the "village idiots". But what's wrong with saying "I don't know"? I DO believe the Bible that there will be an Antichrist. I don't know who that will be and I cannot say that even the man next door to me is not the Antichrist. I just don't have the divine knowledge to say for sure. Does that make me a nutcase? Whatever.

What this man describes is not representative of Christianity, the Bible or the vast majority of those who are Christians in this country. He paints with as wide a brushstroke as I would if I said that every single Democrat is Satan's demons and out to destroy this nation. I don't believe that one bit - nor is he correct to paint believers in Jesus Christ as "village idiots". I will safely say that while this man may have been raised in a Christian home, something failed in his heart and he does not know the God of Scripture. See? I'm not that much of an idiot!

It was a 6 minute video and those are the main points as I listened to him. Yeah - NOT anything truthful, reality or remotely something a believer would agree with.

I am alatide (sic)and I totally agree with what this man is saying. The Christian Right is really no longer Christian at all. Thanks sweetheart. Now I know who to turn to when I want God's opinion. It's a cult political group focussed (sic)at getting converts to its particular non-Christian set of beliefs. (Please list these non-Christian beliefs.)They correspond closely to the Pharisees in the Bible (Again, now pay attention this time, we are Christians, not Jews.)in that they are legalistic about obeying God's laws but they demonstrate none of the love or compassion that Jesus taught. Strangely, they consider themselves to be extremely patriotic but fundamentally do not agree with such American freedoms as freedom of speech and the right to a trial by jury.(Please list examples of your lie.)

They focus on sins "those other people committ(sic)" like abortion but fail to recognize their own desperately sinful way of life. (Of course not, like you said, it's a 'cult political group'...)I (sic)the book unChristian, the writer from the Christian research group Barma looks at the attitudes of the unchurched from teen agers threough about age 40. It's an excellent book. (I'm sure you think so, given your teen-age years.)I'm currently about 1/3 of the way through it. (Maybe you ought to ask for his copy that doesn't have all the big words.)One discovery that he made was that 50% of the unchurched think that the term evangelical Christian refers to Christians who are extremely involved in politics. They believe that most Christians are hypocrites and are only interested in "saving them" not offering them love or compassion or help when they need it.(Of course not. Trying to save their lives after this one is not love, it's just political, hypocritical and politicaly motivated.)

The church is in a terrible condition today.(Given your attitude, I wonder why.) It's become more like a country club thanan (sic) authentic bgody(sic) of believers. Many Christians believe that how you live your life doesn't matter as long as you're one of the elect or have accepted Christ at some point 40 years ago. Suprisingly, most of the unchurched have done that and now reject Christianity.
Wow. Just goes to shows that you can bring a horse to water...........

It doesn't bother me, I am from Texas, Spanish is quickly becoming the language of choice.
No problem Brother....one has to remember, there were more brown skinned Texicans there at the Alamo than white skinned Texicans. Someone speaking Spanish (Mexican) doesn't bother me at all!
