Sorry Joshua but no such thing exists in the Bible. What you believe then has come from outside of the canons. [IMG]

quote:
Now my point to this is not to backup what Joshua is saying or defend his beliefs but to show how illogical these arguments have become. PLEASE think about what you say before you say it. PLEASE!

So, What then Flyfree? Do we just hang our heads and allow this to go on? Should our church if a pro-homo so called preacher wants to preach his sick message in our church, do we just let him? And then afterward just tell the congregation that we don't nessisarily agree with this, but it is his right to say it.

    Now doesn't that sound illogical?

How horrid Adam! I attributed the quote to the wrong person! I am soooo sorry. That should have read "Philip".

The only marriage ever ordained by God is that between a man and a woman. Husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church; a wife to reverence her husband. And in Genesis, we read therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Hmmmm . . . in a homosexual "marriage", who is the husband and who is the wife?

There are no verses in the Bible giving instruction to a same-sex relationship.

Well, let's see . . . if Joshua's assertation is correct, then what are his thoughts on people who would have a relationship with an animal? (sorry guys . . . I'm trying to make a point here, disgusting as it may seem). If a clergyman performs a marriage between a person and an animal, does this give the two the same rights as a married heterosexual couple?

Yes in fact I would put all those whom you mentioned and that the bible mentions in those same blanks.....it goes for us all. NO ONE BUT NO ONE has any right to call another NON CHRISTIAN unless that person outright admits they are not a christian. So before ya'll applaud, check out judgement in the bible under fruits....fruits of what?>??? You can't say if someone is a christian by homosexuality...sorry ain't happening.

So Sue, let me understand this ...

You are willing to accept sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals as real, true, Christians, unless they are kind enough to deny it to you? So I assume you are opposed to church discipline against sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals? And you are willing to accept sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals in positions of minstry in your church? Are you willing to allow sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals get baptized as regenerate believers in your church? Are you willing to allow sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals to marry each other in your church? Are you willing to allow sorcerers, idolaters, heretics, blasphemers, thieves, liars, pedophiles, rapists, and homosexuals work in childcare in your church? If not, why not?

Are you willing to ignore the command of God through the apostle in 1 Cor 5:9-6:3? If so, why so?

You mean Adam is going bang, bang, bang? And I thought all along that it was the backfiring of a passing motorcycle! ;)

Sorry but I am just trying to lighten up the thread a little bit! Excellent post KeeperOfMyHome! But I am afraid Joshua will have an answer for that one too. At this point only the grace of God can unravel his theological misinterpretations and give him the Gospel truth. [IMG]

I can't recall ever seeing a marriage in the Bible between two men, or two women. Wonder where thats supose to be.
Not the Bible I'm sure. Doctrines and biblical beliefs need to come only from the Bible, not else where.

Too bad some don't believe the Bible. :(

When you all get tired of trying to convince Joshua regarding the sin of homosexuality, ask him about abortion! Then the picture of lack of biblical discernment will reveal why Joshua cannot see what mainstream Bible believing Christians believe in a number of areas.

    Joshua,

I made a couple of relevant exegetical points that you have refused to deal with for some reason.

Then you come up with "it's God's eyes that make the difference routine" and therefore even if the state doesn't license marriage it is okay if done by a priest, rabbi, minister. Where are you going to support this from Scripture? God commanded us to be subject to higher powers. If they do not ordain a marriage, then a marriage is not legal. BTW, a rabbi does does not believe in the God of the Bible, anyway.

It is fruitless to continue making statements about this topic until you are willing to deal with what Scripture says. You have not yet done that. I will not appeal to the OT Law about this -- THere is no need to. You have plainly misinterpreted Romans 1 -- according to the historical-grammatical interpretation. You have read your own presuppositions into it. You need to deal with Scripture.

There is now four pages of posts with very little Scripture. Do we really think that by much talking we will convince the sinner of his way? Hardly. Scripture is the only tool by which change will be brought.

    Chris,

Thats right ;) lets keep all those other nasty sinners out and keep those wonderful christian backstabbers, finger pointing, gossiping, full of pride, full of conceit, self righteous, materialistic, secretly coveting, hidden pornography addicts, and all other hidden and seen sinful folks in.

Fact still remains, not one of us are any better, only difference is, our sins aren't known and theirs are. Bet you'd be very shocked to know how many choir directing, Pastoral leading, Sunday School teaching, youth directing, piano playing church folk out there are addicted to porn or even abusing a child sexually. We all have issues in our lives, some issues are a bit more detrimental than others however the acts are still sin no matter how you cut the pie.

We all need repentance in our lives but we also all need healing too.

    Sue

There is a slight problem with this- Baptist doctrine differs so much church to church (because Baptist churches are indepentant bodies) that there are only a few docternal stances that I have seen stay the same among all Baptist churches. Homosexuality is not one of them. Perhaps his Baptist church allows this train of thought.

    Until Next Post, Adam[/QB]

Sorry, flyfree, but I think your ticket to the next airliner has been revoked. You are absolutely WRONG about Baptist doctrine EVER accepting homosexuals as anything other than sin. Sure in this big country of ours there are people who call themselves Baptist and may believe in homosexuality, but that does not mean they are right from the standard Baptist point of view. My opinion or not.

Vote right here on this board and find out how many Baptists even consider that the right to preach homosexual freedom from the pulpit is acceptable and you will find out what Baptists believe. Don't tell me this is my opinion, because in my opinion AND THE BIBLE'S (AND IT DOES NOT TAKE AN INTERPRETER) if you believe that homosexuality is not a sin then YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Think about what YOU say before siding with a sinner! :D :D :D

    (I'm back!)
Ok Joshua, the first word, if you really want to take it that way, go for it, since in the other instances it's used you could, although you know the rest of it.
As far as arsenokoitai, perhaps I'm not the most learned person in the world, so maybe others can help out here, but it means much more than pervert? I shan't go into details, but whoa! If anyone can think of a nice way to post exactly how THAT translates go for it, because I won't! Suffice it to say I'm glad I checked it out.....I now can say with even MORE confidence what the Scriptures have been saying all along.
    Homosexuality is WRONG!

Gena, I am not as delicate as you are. The word "arsenokoitns/ou/o/oi" means exactly what it looks like! It means "a male homosexual, a pederast." The old Teutonic reads "arsen coitus." Which means exactly what it looks like! The word could not be more clear. It refers to a disgusting practice of homosexuality, anal coitus! (My appologies to the BB, but there was no nice way to say this! And we should be shocked and disgusted by such things unless our conscience is completely seared!)

    Thomas,

I don't dispute the linguistic origins of the word, which is an almost literal translation of the comparable Hebrew phrase /mishkav zekor/ - lying with a male. Nevertheless, it occurs nowhere else in contemporary Greek literature, and is probably Paul's attempt to translate the Levitical legal term for someone who is a male temple prostitute or a male pedophile (in partnership with a /malakos/ or "call-boy"). The use of /malakos/ and /arsenokoites/ in tandem would seem to imply that the emphasis is pedophilia.
