1] Total depravity -
*Jeremiah 17:9*
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Humanity is corrupted in every part of it's nature. There is not one spot where the corruption of sin is not found.
My reply: Yes, to Jeremiah 17:9. We are corrupted, but that does not mean we cannot cry out to God for His mercy, for His help. In fact, it tells me the opposite. In our condition, we must cry out to Him, so there is nothing there to support Total Inability.
2] Unconditional Election -
*Ephesians 1:3-4*
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
The Eternal God and Creator of all things does as He wills without consultation or correction with or from man.
There is no condition required in order for God to choose to redeem anyone since God knew us before we were ever born.
*Jeremiah 1:5*
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
My reply: He chose those who believe to be holy and blameless before Him. And He did that before the foundation of the world.
3) Limited atonement -
*Matthew 1:21*
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
*John 10:11*
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
*John 17:9*
I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.
Jesus did not waste even one drop of blood on those who would not believe.
My reply: It requires ALL of Christ's sacrifice and shed blood to save even one person. Again, there is nothing in the above to say the atonement is limited. It IS limited to believers, regarding efficacy, but it is sufficient for all, because Christ is the Saviour of the world, specially of those who believe--that is, it is only efficacious for believers.
4) Irresistible grace -
*Luke 10:21-22*
In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
"Whenever God pleases, he overcomes your resistance. He can let you resist him as long as he wants, but when he decides, he triumphs."
~ John Piper
My reply: I don't care what Piper says; I care what Scripture says. "Ye do always resist the Holy Ghost."
5) Perseverance of the Saints -
*Ecclesiastes 3:14*
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
*Isaiah 46:3-4*
“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.
*Philippians 1:6*
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
God purposes in His heart to complete that which He started and thus we who are His children will persevere in faith to the point of our glorification in the presence of God.
