You have heard of Charles Spurgeon, i'm sure. Gills was "the man" so to speak before Spurgeon. A great writer and knew Hebrew and Greek better then any one of his day.

He pastored for over 50 years and wrote many books.

Also only one of few who did a sermon on every book of the Bible in their entirety.

J.D. so you say God is willing to have justice on the damned and mercy on the saved. that makes alot more sence than what my pastor said he said mercy on everyone. thanx

Hello Gristmill, that's a pretty good way to put it. However, at the risk of confusing you, let me elaborate on the idea of God's mercy. In regards to the eternal state, God does not have mercy, but justice, on the ones he has passed over. However, in this life, God does show goodness and mercy towards the "damned" in that he gives them life and food, air, rain, and many other blessings that His own children enjoy. This goodness should lead them to repentance, but because of their hard and impenitent hearts, they don't repent. And the blessings which God bestows upon them become part of their "indictment", the list of things that will prove their depravity and unworthiness of salvation in the Day of Judgment.
See Romans 2.

"Whosoever believeth" is NOT all mankind, for not all mankind believeth. "Whosoever will" is not all mankind, because most of mankind will not.
"Whosoever" may be anyone, but not necessarily everyone.
Mark 10 is very clear about the freewill that a rich man rejected Jesus Christ. His resistance against Jesus Christ shows that He demanded him to repent his sins and accept Him. Mark 10 obviously shows that the calvinism is wrong.
