You say you have seen The Lord keep people from sickness all their lives? How did they die?

You are attributing all sickness to sin...
And yes that is what Job's "friends" did.

But we live in a broken world. And innocent get sick, children get cancer, epilepsy, AIDs.

Yes, some bring it on themselves... like a liver disease from drinking, or lung cancer from smoking, but you my friend are just as susceptable to any disease as someone else.

We live in a broken world, and I am glad that God had the foresight to put herbs, plants, and chemicals on this planet to heal.

    All healing comes from God...
    Whether it is miraculous, or
Whether it is from the Drugs HE has given us..

    It all comes from God.

And some people may need to be on meds all their lives...
    That is not a sin.

I am looking at going on Blood Pressure meds... probably the rest of my life. Could it be my fault, possibly.. but it is also genetic.

Tell the child with Downs Syndrome down the street that it is her fault she needs meds.

I dare you... Then expect to need meds when her father puts you in the ER!

    DITW,

Your responses have confirmed what I thought about you. I see no need to interact with you further.

I agree, the ignore feature is helpful in instances like these.

Once again, the clear teaching of God's Word is set aside for man's doctrine of covering the problem with medicines that may not be needed.

Once again your ignorance has been revealed in your blanket statements against any medical help. Not only your ignorance but also your hypocrisy, because if you've ever taken an aspirin, tums, antibiotic, or vacination you show yourself to be such. It would have been much better for you to say that there is far too many taking far too much medicine today and I think you would have had many agree. But you put forth standards for other Christians that you yourself cannot or do not meet. It seems to me there is a revival is happening -- too bad it is a revival of the pharisees.:tear:

And how do you know I cannot meet those standards? You do not know me. But you are right, I cannot do them. The flesh is weak. But Christ, who is my strength has carried me through all my sickness quite well.

And when it comes time to be carried by the angels to glory, I shall not feel the sting of death and am promised this in God's Word.

His Word clearly says He will not allow a temptation (trial) to come my way that He will not help carry it. There are trials in sickness, but none so great that He cannot deliver.

Too many do not fully trust God's Holy Word to be the truth it is. When sickness comes, they forget Christ and run to the doctor for medication.

If ever the Lord tells me different, which has not been proven by the room that I am, I will humbly apologize. But according to His Word, we have not because we ask not.

You may call it ignorance, but God's Word calls it faith in Him.

Diggin, are you a pastor? I don't remember if you are or not.

If a person came to you and asked you to pray for them because they found out they have cancer, what type of prayer would you pray?
Would you pray that God would take them home to Heaven as soon as possible, or pray that God will give the Drs the wisdom to help your member?

What if someone got hurt on church property, would you refuse to call an ambulance?

What would your members think if they knew your views?
I for one would want to avoid your church, if you do pastor... I would be afraid I would have a heart attack, and you wouldn't call 911.

It is easy to talk the way you talk when you are not ill, but I bet if you ever get cancer, or other disease, you will change your mind.

What about diabetics, do you feel they shouldn't take insulin?

I didn't realize there were people out there that beleived the way you do.

If your car breaks down do you take it to a mechanic? Why, maybe God decided you didn't need a car. Depend on him... he gave you 2 legs that should be good enough.

BTW, I am not on any medications yet... one day I may be.

I drug myself everyday, but I use the real stuff. I have chronic migraines (and have had them for most of my life) and I'm on a combination of several meds and minerals and a strict diet. This combination has helped cut my migraines down to about one a week.

This isn't the first thread that's taken this path. I'd honestly never thought before I came to the BB that anyone would think me weak or less spiritual because I take these medications for a physically debilitating condition.

God bless you Bitsy...remember the church is not immune from ignorance. Even the Apostle Paul said, "I would not have you ignorant..." Unfortunately, there are those who chose to remain willfully so. I am glad that God has given us talented doctors and that they are able to minister to us. Again, are there too many people taking too many drugs today---certainly, but that does not justify a blanket indictment against all who need to take medication.

You are not weak.. it is those that don't believe God can work through meds that have the weaker faith... they have limited God.

I don't believe in acohol but as in caffiene and chocolate I do not equate acohol with either or medication.
I will tell you of experience, you can get in so much pain you will take anything. Just try laying in your garden in so much pain because most of your heart vessels have completely closed off, that you want out of life itself.

Bob, we are in wholehearted agreement!

Personally, I'm very thankful for doctors and pharmacists and chemists and how God has used them.

It can be said that those of us who place faith in the Lord are not limiting God at all.

I just heard a message tonight on 'How Big is Your God? Was He not able to deliver the three Hebrew Children? and Daniel? Did He not heal sick? Did He use medicines that were not mentioned?

Maybe it is not me who is limiting God.

Just because the Bible doesn't record the use of medicines doesn't mean God cannot use them... The Bible doesn't record the use of the internet, but He uses Baptistboard to expose false doctrines all the time.

Funny thing. God valued the health of the Apostle Paul so much that He led Doctor Luke to accompany him as he travelled on his 3rd missionary journey. Hmm, do you suppose Luke occasionally gave Paul medicine?

Furthermore, Doctor Luke actually wrote two books of the NT, Luke and Acts. Do you suppose maybe God likes some doctors and approves of their work? :godisgood:

And the "wine for stomach sake" what was that about?

Whether or not it was alcoholic, the "fruit of the vine" was still referred to as having a medicinal purpose.

What I am trying to say is, even if it is just grape juice, Paul instructed Timothy to use it as medicine.

Paul advocated a creation of God to be used for medicinal purposes...
How can someone say medicine is evil then?

I think we can agree with that.
