Thank you so much for all of your help as well. Man I love this forum. I am definitely going to do some research on the information you have given me as well. A have just a few questions if you don’t mind.

Nations University

100 dollars per year plus books. That seems like an amazing deal. I could do that no problem. You say there are seeking accreditation so at this moment they are not. If I do complete a degree with them while they are not accredited it will still be technically not accredited. So therefore this might fit into the category of an excellent choice for a non-accredited school at the moment? That is extremely affordable.

Correct. They are currently unaccredited.

SATS

150-250 per class is wonderful. But I do not live in Africa and I think they do not ship the books out of country. So do I just buy my own books for the class and ship them to myself and pay for their classes? This might be an excellent option because I they are accredited like you say and have a very good reputation.

Actually they WILL ship them to you, or allow you to download them in PDF format online (which is what I did for my last couple of classes). The textbooks are actually "readers" which include only the portions of the textbooks which you need for the course. Example: In a class on Soteriology (Doctrine of Salvation), you won't get an entire 1500 page systematic theology; instead you will get only the 250 pages you need for the course.

Liberty Online

This one is hard for me to understand. Are you saying I can do a complete part of my degree for 950 home study program. And just pay for the difference of my classes that I need to complete the remainder part of my credits at full price? Wait what did I just say. For example if I have 42 credits from home degree. Does that mean I only need like 18 more credits to get my full degree at full price per class?

Yes. You can do the Home institute, from where you are at, and if you decide to do an associates or Bachelor's degree, the diploma can be turned into 42 credits. Not exactly sure of the process, though. I think there is a fee associated with turning them into credits....maybe a test, too.

Alternatively, you can do their Wilmington School of the Bible Program, which can be taken from anywhere, at 95 bucks per credit hour.... These are actual credits, so there is no fee later, nor additional tests to take.

More food for thought

I am leaning towards to something extremely affordable like SATS with a rigorous work load or a non-accredited school with an exceptional recommendation. Just to get sound doctrine and be somewhat respectable if I need to be called to sub in for a Youth Pastor or minor leader. I think that would be adequate. Please continue to let me know what you think.

I think that Nations, SATS, or one of the two Liberty programs I mentioned above, would ALL serve you well.

LHBI is 950 if paid in full, 1250 with payments. The 42 hours are only credited to a BA and require testing and $100 per class bringing the cost up an additional 1400.

Thanks. I knew there was something! Still thats 62 dollars per credit altogether. Not bad!

Though I think the Wilmington route might be better, since they are actual credits, and do not require testing (and can be transferred...)

I believe luther rice is out of my budget but I can check again.

@Heavensdad

I live in Atlanta, Ga so if this helps or if there is any great bible schools near here that would be great. Can I do the Home Bible Program here in Georgia?

@Everyone

Also what is this all about sbc? How do you become sbc and what is the best option for this or college?

I am looking for anything around 75.00 to 175.00 per class or maybe per credit. Much more than this and I just don’t think I could handle the debt to income ratio.
Most of the southern baptist seminaries (6 of them) have actual colleges. The one at Southeastern is called C@SE or College at Southeastern. I like their program but it is geared less toward Bible kawledge and more critical thinking for seminary level work. But that is just an opinion knowing just a little bit about the undergrad curriculum. But joining a southern baptist church gets you 1/2 tuition off gate. That is handy for me currently. Wouldn't be able to afford SEBTS w/o that discount.

MILL!!

ICAATS (its accreditor) is an accrediting mill...

They are absolutely a diploma mill. They are housed out of a church in my hometown, Modesto, CA. which strangely has a near epidemic of internet religious snake oil dealers... Universal Life Church online...

Anyway, I looked into them a handful of years ago in a similar searching and found them to be a typical diploma mill. If you want cheap unaccredited with the possibility of accreditation I would look at Nations University, otherwise Liberty, Luther Rice, Tennessee Temple, you have plenty of accredited options.

Check out Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Kentucky

http://www.midcontinent.edu
It's a four-year, liberal arts school with two divisions. The Baptist College of the Bible and the Baptist College of the Arts and Sciences.

Also has an Accelerated Degree Program where one who has some college can get his degree in 18-20 months, going to class one night a week in the town where he lives.

One may also get a degree on-line. And MCU has just begun offering Master's degree curriculum in business.

The website will give you full information.

Just you saying this makes me angry... Southern is #1! (Southeastern, maybe....but Southwestern? Really? Everyone that I know that comes from there is a flake..)

I have to agree about Southwestern and I am an alumni. I am shocked at the people SWBTS is now turning out.

When everyone is talking about sbc or college in the south are they saying this college?

http://www.sebc.edu/

Or is everyone just saying that mainly bible colleges in the south are good choices?

I am sorry but I still feel a little overwhelmed. There are so many options. I which there was just a clear affordable accredited choice with a great reputation for distance learning bible colleges.

When people are talking about SBC they are talking about the denomination The Southern Baptist Convention. They mention that because a lot of the Southern Baptist churches want you to have a degree from a Southern Baptist college.

That is correct. And more so, if one IS Southern Baptist, one's tuition is cut in half over what someone who is not SBC (though they can still attend!) would pay. The half not paid by the applicant is paid by the churches who send funds via the cooperative program to make that happen.

Here is the link for Boyce (named after James P. Boyce, a founder of Southern Seminary).

http://www.boycecollege.com/
http://www.boycecollege.com/academics/onlinelearning/

The program is FULLY accredited, and it is rigorous. Don't take it if you do not want to work hard -- at a Masters seminary level -- and at a pace equivalent with the classroom phase. Online coursework is virtually identical to in-class work, where you get the same lecture, mostly the same homework (some has to be submitted in written form versus classroom discussions, but there are live discussions online), and the same level of degree and instruction.

It is not the "cheapest" but I've found that in education one often gets what one pays for. You can study under the man who wrote the text book or you can study the book when some other man teaches it. I've found it more profitable to study under the man who wrote the book, especially where some of the "professors" who teach at some institutions are just local pastors who sideline as college profs.

Thank you so much for all of the kind replies. I really appreciate it. I am still on my journey; but believe I am going to go with the most affordable accredited option. Even if I just take a few classes here and there. One day I will have a fully respectable bible degree that I may use for the Lord in the future if needed. And if not I will have the knowledge for my own personal understanding and reasons .

That I may ultimately learn how to serve the Lord properly. For my own personal edification; and finally to learn how to serve others around me properly.

This way since I am going to do it. I mine as well have something to show for it when I’m done. Something inside still has a hint of maybe going with an extremely affordable and respectable non-accredited bible college for simply knowledge and personal hobby like reasons.

At the end of the day I will probably go with Affordable Accredited Option! Never know where the future may take me!

Best,
ChristianMaker

I don't agree with them about a lot of things, but Moody is way, way better than most of those links you posted. It is a historic and committed Christian institution and they have many fine people teaching there.

Moody's no Wheaton, Fuller, Regent or Gordon-Conwell, though.

Correction Liberty Home Bible is very affordable as well. Those were a lot of links to go through. Thats what I thought about Moody as well. I know they have a different view about Revelations but I don't think that is the end of the world. I am going to list my final choices shortly.

Walston’s Guide to Christian Distance Learning
Geteducated

My Picks: What I am leaning towards

satsonline
lhbionline
globaluniversity
moody

I am still reading “Walston’s Guide to Christian Distance Learning” so things might change; but I am pretty much set on these schools because they are affordable to our budget. All I want is a very affordable respectable degree and I believe these schools can provide that. Remember this is more hobby driven than Pastoral driven. I am still seeking a college degree at my local community college and will transferring to a university once I complete my associates. I just want to take a couple of Christian classes here and there along the way while I purse my secular degree. This is for my own personal edification and for me to prepare myself for the service of the Lord in the future for whatever that may bring. I really appreciate everyone’s comments and look forward to growing with everyone in the future. Also please don’t hesitate to add last minute comments. Thank you everyone and have a wonderful day!

And to everyone else that had concerns about my wife working too much. She is on a mission and is doing exactly what she wants to do. I told her not to take the second job but she insisted. Plus when I was making good money before I saved up some money. I also have extremely low interest loans that I can personally take out that are custom to me if needed. I am working part time and we are by no means struggling. As far as her family goes they asked us to move in. We had our own place but they are a little older in age and wanted some companionship. It was a win win for everyone. Not everyone fights with their family; some families love each other and look forward to spending time with each other. I’m sure our situation will change in the future but for right now this is where God wants everyone in our family to be. We just need to watch our pennies and make sure we do not get into a bad situation by being careless. However I do appreciate everyone’s concern. I can’t wait until I get my degree and can go into the work place once again as a paid professional and on my free time spread the word of God because I know how and I have the love in my heart.

God bless everyone!
