    Baptist
I joined the Primitive Baptist church 2.5 years ago. We were a small bunch then, and we still are now, and every Sunday after the preaching we would get up and walk single file to shake the pastor's hand and give each other a hug, and I've always enjoyed it, because we honestly feel the love we have for each other.
But, those before me have been there for years and years and they obviously love the handshaking and the hugging, and that goes for the young people too.
Then, on 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays we'd have this potluck lunch in our fellowship hall and after lunch we'd linger for an hour more and just enjoy each other's company.
I understand smalltowner has his reasons, and the only thing I can say is : pray, brother, pray.

I kinda like the clappin' and the hand shakin'.
But if that is the only reason to go to church,
i might as well stay home.

Why do they call it a "church service" if you don't
do anything but sit and be entertained?
I think Sibling Thankful, that is what
Brother Smalltowner mean by a "lounge act" type
meeting. Somebody does an act, some people clap
(the ones that haven't gone to sleep yet).
Somebody else does an act, people clap again.

So let me ask a question:
if the clapping is for God, how come the
claps are lounder for some performers than for
others? God doesn't change, only the performance
    changes.
