I was sad when they hanged Saddam

I was praying to the very last hour before he was hanged that God would touch him and he would accept Jesus as his personal Saviour. I know he did alot of horrible things but sin is sin and I would not wish Hell to anyone.

Yes, I always feel bad when non-Christians pass away and miss heaven; regardless of how wicked they lived here on earth.

I believe sometimes that God has severity to a few that proves to be mercy to many
You don't think God was sad? Jesus cried over Jerusalem...the same ones that stoned and killed His hand picked prophets.

I saw the video of his hanging, and unfortunately all I could make out being chanted was "Muhammed". :tear:

I strongly disagree with TP, and his comment is made only to elevate himself. Why else would he use the word "stupid" ? Because our interpretation of God's word differs with his, ours is "stupid". Pretty arrogant.

That being said, I was quite sad. I was praying for some repentance, before he went to his rightful punishment.

God is sad when people dont repent and that is why their ultimate end is called God's "strange act"...

Isa:28:21: For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

On the other hand, under the circumstances, I dont think that it wouldve been a good idea to allow him to live...

Thats why the Bible ALSO SAYS:

1Pt:2:14: Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Rom:13:3: For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same

I was just bringing out that part of the whole thing... sometimes if allowed to live some people will just cause more pain and suffering to more people... so "kindness" to them would prove to be "cruelty" to many others. Ask people who have had people they loved murdered by someone they "lovingly" let out of prison.

Prov:12:10: the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

No, I used the word "stupid" because I think killing for any reason is stupid.

Where did I mention Curtis, or Curtis' interpretation of Scripture? Where, in fact, did I mention Scripture at all in that post?

I did not; you decided to interpret my words based upon your own prejudiced thinking.

I will speak for myself, sir. Pray do not.

I based it on the numerous times you've said with your own typed words that you believe the death penalty to be scripturaly wrong.

Do you deny that ?

And your post isn't presented as an opinion, it's stated as fact.

Dude, it's a post, not a judicial edict.

And of course I think the death penalty is Scripturally wrong.

However, the post was a statement of my opinion, and said only what it said. The rest was, and is, in your head.

Then it should state it as so.

Some of us think it's a mandate to put killers to death. When we see it called "stupid" with absolutely nothing to indicate it's an opinion, we have to take it that you are calling the act of following a command "stupid".

Sorry if that bothers you.

Wait. So every other post on this entire bulletin board is "opinion" but MINE?

Yes, Curtis, that bothers me.

I know I shouldn't say this, but.....

Christ didn't go around calling O/T teachings stupid, so for you to try and hide behind his name is pretty pathetic.

Why don't you just grow up, and say your post should have started...

"I think......."

Because "I think" is implied. This is an internet message board, Curtis, and if you;ve ceased to be able to tell the difference between this place and Holy Writ, you need to go outside and play for awhile.

And funny how you always hide behind a personal interpretation of part of the Old Testament when challenged on this point. Killing is wrong, and that is a New Testament teaching, in my opinion.

The thing is, you feel very strongly about your position, so much so, that you don't understand why everyone doesn't see it your way.

I never would have addressed this if the word "stupid" didn't appear. That word doesn't belong here.

My apologies.

You didn't need to address it in the first place, unless you've arbitrarily decided the First Amendment only applies to opinions you support.

Further, you do not know what I understand and do not understand, so do ot presume to think on my behalf.

Apology accepted.

You never challenged anyone. You made a blanket statement, don;t blame the board, don't blame anything else. If you don't like having you words thrown back at you, then I suggest you pray while choosing them.
