I have addressed this several times and no one yet has answered me.

Unless Bush was under some kind of special orders, missing weekend drill would not be considered AWOL. Beyond that during my time in the Reserves, the Guard and Reserve allowed members, especially officers, a great deal of flexibility on making up drill time. I had subordinates that worked weekends in their civilian jobs that I never saw except during our 2 week AT.

Again, I have yet to see anyone specifically cite orders that would have placed Bush on active duty for the weekends in question. For reservists, AWOL is only applicable when they are under orders for active duty. This only occurs during annual training or special assignments for extended training or for mobilization.

BTW, I will also vote for Bush and am more pleased now with his domestic philosophy than before.

I don't believe that we can jump backwards the way the CP wants. Too many people have too much vested in the entitlements they have been promised.

Bush's "ownership society" however may provide a bridge to move back to a more free society. It will have costs. The privatization of Social Security alone could cost trillions. But it represents at least one practical solution for moving away from big government liberalism back toward the founding principles of individual freedom and responsibility.

I don't believe that the radical shift proposed by the CP can occur without a violent revolution.

Yeah, It doesn't matter if the entitlements are unconstitutional. We need to keep giving out the free handouts. It's the nice thing to do!

Ken, regardless of your reasons, I'm glad you're going to vote to keep President Bush for a second term. I've already cast my vote for him just in case I get sick or the Lord calls me home before election day!

I didn't consider President Bush the "lessor of two evils". I just reasoned that he is still the best choice we have right now. He shares many - but not all - views I hold. Even my wife and I don't agree on everything! The country needs continuity in its government right now especially relative to the on-going war. I note strong and clear differences in the parties, their spokesmen, and their candidates despite the claims by some that Republicans and Democrats are all the same. Republicans have become more liberal - too much so - but they're a long ways from the Democrats.

I'd never vote for Senator sKerry because don't trust his character, don't like his record, don't like his ideas about government nor private matters, and I just don't have it in me to forgive his slandering of Viet Nam veterans like me. Being a highly liberal Democrat is a given reason not to support him. Yes, Viet Nam still matters to me a lot!

There might be some good points in the platforms of the other third party candidates. Who are they again? Where are they? Unfortunately, many who've cried the loudest on their behalf have done the most to convince me I don't want them in power for certain! Some of these folks - even on this board - are real quick to slam anyone who doesn't immediately support their choices. They wouldn't get much political support that way!

I did indeed for President Bush today.

Since this was the first presidential election year I have been posting on a bulletin board, I have learned a lesson for 2008 - I will not state whom I support until just before election day so that any switching takes place away from public view. :D

I have talked to some other voters who were supporting Peroutka, but then got scared of Kerry and voted for Bush at the last minute.

All I can say is, the election is over, let's let bygones be bygones and work together over the next four years to build the Constitution Party.

Four years of Bush drove thousands of conservative voters to the Constitution Party, I am sure that four more years will do the same!

I think Ken made a wise decision. I voted for Bush fro the same reason. However, down ticket, I voted for the constitution party candidate where there was one available. I want to see change ... but not at the expense that it would cost. To everything, there is a cost benefit ratio. The cost of a Kerry presidency is not nearly worth the benefit that Peroutka might have shown up in the polls. As it ended up, Peroutka ran his campaign in such a non-serious way that he didn't show up in the numbers.

PJ, in Pennsylvania it would not have mattered. As it seems now, Peroutka ran such an bad campaign that he is not even showing up anywhere. Does anyone have any statistics where he actually showed up? I watched last night till about 3:00am switching constantly between networks and saw nothing at all about him.

Your looking in the wrong place, the networks will not show anything about the third-parties.

Networks talked to Ralph Nader. I saw him on at least three networks. Last i checked, he is a third party, with a far worse showing than last time.

Networks will show whatever is having an affect. You could tell last night that there were times when they were struggling to find something to say. If Peroutka had been an issue, they would have been talking to him. He wasn't; they weren't.

Nader spent over $500,000 of the US taxpayer's money to buy that airtime. I refuse to accept the idea that only a candidate who is willing to steal money from the taxpayers should be considered a "serious candidate".

I am willing to accept that, even though it did not turn out to be as close in Arkansas as I feared it would.

Look, I respect everyone who voted for Michael Peroutka. I wish the Constitution Party nothing but the best. When I have supported President Bush on this board I have not been one to badmouth Michael Peroutka or the Constitution Party.

I respect everyone who took the time to vote for whichever candidate or on whatever ballot issue.

Voting - It's what we do in a representative constitutional republic.

Several Christians lied to me by telling me that they were voting for Peroutka. How do I know? Because I voted for him, and he got one vote in my precinct. The others voted for Bush, but were ashamed to admit it.

That's very true and respectable, Ken, and for that I thank you.

In 2008, the GOP candidate will be a little worse, the Democrat candidate will be a little worse, and Christians will gladly support the GOP candidate. Just like Lot.
