If a Christian commits suicide...

Standing,

If a person dies with a lie unconfessed does that mean they go to hell?

It sounds a lot like what, oh man, I have forgotten his name, Constantine. He waited until his death bed to make confession and be sprinkled.

Standing, are you a closet catholic?
I am joking, but the catholic religion would believe you go to hell if you do not get last rites which I understand is a final confession. (I know there is the purgatory issue etc...)

I would like to know if you believe ANY unconfessed sin before death results in a person going to Hell.

Doesn't matter, according to SFIC's position. According to Revelation 21:8, a liar is going to Hell, regardless of whether repentence is involved or not. Therefore, SFIC is going to Hell, as are all of us.

SFIC, I hope I am not coming across as difficult or contrary, I just want to figure out your position.

Do you believe that any unconfessed sin before death will send a person before hell, or is suicide an exception?

Curious,

MNW

MNW,

There is a difference in a christian sinning by ommission (unintentionally) and someone claiming to be christian and intentionally committing sin. 1 John tells us the child of God cannot sin for His seed remaineth in him. If one truly is born of God, the Holy Spirit will convict the heart of sin.

This being said, I do not see it possible for a child of God to commit suicide. The Holy Spirit would speak to the heart keep that one from committing that act.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].

God will always provide a way of escape from temptation. That includes the temptation to commit suicide.

Please explain how an unintentional sin is less than an intentional one. Both are sin. God is a holy God, and will not even allow unintentional sin in His presence.
Either we are washed by the blood of Christ, or we are on our way to hell.

BTW what are your beliefs on this verse:
Heb 6:4 For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put [him] to an open shame.

I think I am understanding your beliefs. Alot in my family believed this way also.
Are you saying that once a person is saved, truly saved, they will not intentionally sin?
And if they do unintentionally, God will chastise them until they repent?

What happens if they don't repent?
How do you get by the verse above that says it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance.

If a person can lose their salvation it would be impossible to get it back. Christ will not go back to the cross again.

Can a Christian intentionally sin?

Yes, Christians intentionally sin. They commit adultery, view pornography on the web, cheat on their taxes, try to "get over" on other people, curse, take God's Name in vain, make promises they don't keep, get drunk, get high, speed, and a host of other sins.

Just because the Holy Spirit speaks to the heart to keep someone from committing a sin, does not always mean that person will listen to the Holy Spirit and not sin.

God will provide a way of escape from temptation, does not mean every person will take him up on it.

Let me ask you standingfirminChrist this;

Do you believe, once saved, always saved?
Yes or no.
Do you believe when Christ died on the cross over some 2 thousand years ago, he died for ALL you sins?
Yes or no.
Do you believe that a murderer who has come to repentance and accepted Christ as his Savior will still go to hell anyway?
Yes or no.
Do you still sin, intentionally and unintentionally?
Yes or no.
Just a simple yes or no will do, you can explain your reasoning afterwards.

Jesus is not going to plead the case of someone who made a profession of faith if they never got rid of their sin.

The Bible teaches us that God chastens whom He loveth. If a person makes a profession of faith, and continues in the sin that they are in before the profession of faith, that person, in all likeliness, is not saved.

Paul did not say I do evil because I want to, no, he said 'the evil that I would not do, that I do'.

John wrote, 'That which is born of God cannot sin because His seed remaineth in him'.

John said in a previous verse, 'if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous'.

This is a sin of ommission based on the previous verses. A true child of God will not willfully commit sin. The Spirit that is within him, will keep him in check on willful sin.

Answers to the questions, Yes, Yes, No, No.

You do not sin, intentionally/unintentionally, you say?

1 John 1:8 -- If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Standing,

I see you consistently making comments about others salvation. Many have begged and pleaded for you to stop. You should consider this verse and cease your comments on others salvation. You do not have the ability to discern Gods mind and it would be beneficial to all if you ceased making such deplorable comments.

James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? (KJV)

Only God can save and only God can judge the hearts of man. If you want to use judgment to discern whether or not you want to have fellowship with someone, that is one thing, but you do not have the right to judge the heart.

You dont eat that extra piece of cheesecake, even when you know you shouldent? No extra bowl of ice cream?

What is the difference between geting angery in trafic and yelling? And geting distraught over the death of your family and killing yourself? Would that be the unintentional sin of suicide?

I dont see where the Bible makes a distinction between intentional and unintentional sins.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by [his] fruit.

Christians are allowed to judge. God's Word gives the christian the right to judge. Paul was sent a letter while he was in Ephesus asking him to judge in several matters amongst the christian body in Corinth and many things they were allowing contrary to the body.

I have not had cheesecake in several months, and have only one bowl of ice cream every four or five days when I have ice cream to eat.

I do not get angry in traffic, God gives me a peace knowing He is in control. I do not even drive. I have had family members die, and although there was grief, as you can see, I am still here. God promised to walk with me in the storms of life. BTW, there is a big difference in getting angry, and killing oneself.

See my last post with the verses I posted. It is there.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.

Am I right in understanding SFIC that once saved we will never commit intentional sins?

I think what I struggle with is seeing suicide as a sin greater than other sins. If I intentionally take my life and die without repenting how is that different from suicide?

Or put it this way, why is an absolute that we would be stopped from suicide by the conviction of the Holy Spirit and not absolutely stopped from other sins?

Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
