If a person is on an Island, and all they find is John 3:16, will believing that save them?

You don't like it when a non-calvinists does the same thing that Calvinists do. As a rule Cali's will not respond to a question about how they understand or should I say misunderstand a text. I mean how dare anyone should not believe what they say.

So I agree <sigh or yawn, it's always circles with you>

You know so much about this conversation that you feel qualified to butt in, then by all means answer the questions.

There is no place in scripture where it states what you must believe about Christ to be saved from eternal hellfire, except that everyone who believes in Him has eternal life.
Sure it does:

" But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." ( Matthew 4:4 ).
" And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." ( Luke 4:4 ).

One either believes the entire Bible, and everything that is written in it, or they do not.
There are no "high points", and there no "essential" doctrines.

If it's on the pages, God's children will believe every word of it.
Those who are not of God, will not believe them ( John 8:43-47 ).

Has God, "Opened the heart", of these we are asking about?

King James Bible
"And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira,
which worshipped God, heard us:
whose heart the Lord opened,
that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul." Acts 16:14

Not in the sense you are speaking of. God has said all are without excuse Rom 1:20 and that He will deal with each person according to their deeds Rom 2:6. This is in relation to the conscience and morality of each individual.

Not everyone and I would say most people have never heard of Christ let alone had the gospel explained to them. Yet God, who is just, will judge each man by the light he is given and how he responds to that light.
Jer_17:10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

This is a discussion board is it not? Do you think your the only one that has voice in this discussion? I have made my points, now you need to respond to them.

The reprobates will be judged based on their deeds, which will be to their loss, since they do not have the perfect righteousness of Christ imputed to them. The elect, chosen by God before the world began, have already been judged in Christ and He lived and died for the elect and has a perfect righteousness which God imputes to them.

How do you deal with Peter telling Christians that they should have a fear of God, who is their Father, because He will judge their deeds?

Not everyone and I would say most people have never heard of Christ let alone had the gospel explained to them.

Then they are in an awful spot, as the Bible says: Acts of the Apostles 17:31 because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. (emphasis mine)

If one stands before God without the perfect righteousness of Christ, they will not be part of those in the new heavens and earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Got a verse? I don't know the particulars to which you refer off the top of my head.

1 Peter 1:17–20 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your temporary residence, because you know that you were redeemed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb who was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has been revealed in these last times for you.

So will the elect.

Wrong.

5 but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 who will render to every man according to his works:
7 to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life: Ro 2

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Mt 25

10 For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Cor 5

...to name just a few.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

"As with all the items that this chapter discusses, sanctification is a work of God; however, it is SYNERGISTIC in nature, meaning that it is also in a sense a work of man, and involves his conscious decision and effort in the process. As Paul writes:

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence – continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. (Philippians 2:12-13)

The Christian is to actively take his part in sanctification, and deliberately pursue a life of obedience to God "in fear and trembling." Nevertheless, the passage explains that even the working out of our salvation is in fact a work of God: "It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Our choices and actions remain under God's control after regeneration. Therefore, although a person is conscious of his efforts and struggles in sanctification, in the end God receives the honor, and the Christian still has no basis to boast of his achievements." - Vincent Cheung, Systematic Theology

You're preaching to the choir Ken. Is this post meant somehow to refute the fact that the elect are going to be judged by their works? It doesn't.

It blows my mind, the damage that one little word added to the gospel has done.
