Body count: In the last six months 292 killed in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq...

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago ?

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago ; 221 killed in Iraq .

Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin,

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.,

Gov. Rod Blogojevich,

House leader Mike Madigan,

Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),

Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

.....our leadership in Illinois .....all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago .

Of course, they're all blaming each other.

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us!

Can't wait for the baloney justifying/excusing/denying this situation to begin - or the complete silence from the "other"side if "they" feel it's too obvious to defend.

There are none so blind as those who "WILL (ie: choose) NOT SEE"!

What you're describing is a crisis in America not just in Chicago. Take a look at the poor areas in Atlanta. What about NYC (Harlem, the Bronx)? LA and its street gangs? In terms of murder rates the U.S. cities rank like this:

1. Detroit
2. Baltimore
3. New Orleans
4. Newark
5. St. Louis
6. Oakland
7. Washington D.C.
8. Cincinnati
9. Philadelphia
10. Buffalo
11. Kansas City
12. Atlanta
13. Memphis
14. Miami
15. Houston
16. Milwaukee
17. Indianapolis
18. Cleveland
19. Chicago
20. Phoenix

Well, we finally get down to Chicago at NUMBER 19.

Can you respond with facts instead of just attempting (unsuccessfully) to smear the Democratic candidate for President? I seriously doubt it.

Seemed like facts to me that Obama comes from a city that is known for corruption and that the Democrats rule Chicago...

Just curious, do you know if any of the citys that you listed are controled by Republicans?

What did he present that was not fact?

Houston is non-partisan. Our mayor and city council are neither republicans nor democrats.

I think what this shows is we need to seiously look at our own country before we start to think we can rebuild and "fix" any other country.

We need to shore up our borders, protect our people in our cities here and then worry about the rest of the world.

IMHO, neither party will help our country as they are both corrupt and we have nothing to choose from.. This time around, like so many others we get trash or garbage... in the end it's all more of the same.... :BangHead:

I would love to address each of these one at a time. As you know there are more than one side to every story. As BaptistBeliever pointed out, this is not just the story of Chicago, this is the story of every major metropolitan area in this country.

There was a thread not long ago and I see many NRA ads on TV saying Obama wants to take our guns away. This just isn't true. We all know the 2nd amendment of the constitution gives and protects the rights to keep and bear arms. No one is trying to take that away from anyone who hunts, protecting his family and property or just wants to peaceably own guns. But the picture from this one stat proves it's more dangerous to live in a US city than it is to live in a combat zone.

This is why Obama wants the NRA, Gun owners as well as law enforcement community to sit down and help divide this hair thin line in a way that will make our major cities safer than a combat zone. Obama admits he doesn't have the answer, but he also believes collectively, WE, all interested parties can sit down and discuss the options this nation has to turn this picture around.

One similarity I have seen to the terrorist is that gang bangers don't appear to care about dying and putting one in prison is the equivalent to giving a soldier the medal of honor. We are running out of room in prisons to house all these criminals and it is costing the tax payers an awful lot of money. Many of these killings are done by kids who legally won't get more than a slap on the hands and they know it. The average gang banger doesn't live to see 19 or 20 so our current laws are all but ineffective.

I had previously on this board made the suggestion to criminalize the channels where the guns are getting in these youth hands. I have no problem with legal gun dealings but these kids aren't getting these guns over the counter or from a legal gun transaction. Somehow we have to make it harder for these kids to get these guns and discourage anyone participating or profiting from this activity. I like Obama don't have the answer but this statistic shows something really needs to be done.

I applaud him for trying to do something about this statistic you find disturbing.

AMEN Jamie, we have a lot of nerve trying to make safe a country that is safer than our own. I did fail to mention how a lot of these guns are freely flowing through our open borders and one of the major, major Latino gangs, MS13, is predominately illegal immigrants. We tried deporting these people back to their own countries but their own countries refuse to take them so we are stuck with keeping them in our prisons on tax payers dollars.

I find interesting with libs that they suggest laws will not make a change with abortion and we need to be reaching peoples hearts instead. But when it comes to guns all of the sudden laws are helpful. Quite an inconsistent position putting it nicely.

Your point? Even with that do not you believe we should do more to shore up our borders and take care of our people?

Last I knew... Saddam was dead... can we start to look at our borders now or should we wait a little longer until that next 'target' is finished?

WE should. With Iraq it was let them do what they want or do what we have done. BUt there are a great many things we could get rid of and redirect finances to. Largely we should stop funneling money through the Fed and leave it at the state level so more money gets to the problems and our constitution remains strong.

Yeah, the same could be said for a lot of countries around the world.. where does it stop? Where do you draw a line and work on our country and worry about others as we can (without affecting ours)

So, you supported Ron Paul? Because that is exactly what he wanted to do. :)

I do with the exception of the example of Iraq. W e would need to pull out of NATO before we could just ignore agression agaisnt NATO Allies.

It stops with NATO allies if nowhere else.

I do. I fact as a poll worker I vote via absentee ballot and I cast my vote for Baldwin.

There are a lot of interesting demographics involved in this issue many of which we just can't talk about without getting into yet another real fist fight.

One of the milder ones is that the higher the number of wards of the government the higher the problems. That's because government can't fix the problems and they just help create them or make them worse. That's about what we can expect from Obama.

Houston is also nothing like Chicago! It doesn't belong on the list.

I don't know, I've never been to Chicago. I also don't know why you would say it doesn't belong on the list?

If O-BA-MA wins, those of us who voted against him will have to endure surrender, subjagation, and depression along with those who did vote for him.

The silver lining will be that if he does win, he will be president for no more than one term, and will be the last Democratic president for a generation.
