Well, I had to vote "No."

Why? Well, to be honest, there are several fruitcakes, past and present, running around on here at times. There should be harmony in a congregation, but with some of the radical views shown (especially in the Bible Translations/Version forum and the Other Christian Denominations forum) I'd just have to get up and walk out.

Of course, I'd love to sit down beside the vast majority of my beloved friends here and worship together with them. But I couldn't with some of the radical diversity seen here abouts.

But, that's just me...

In Christ,
Trotter

Despite the fighting, probably yes. I have a lot of friends here! And I know those whose biblical understanding and maturity in Christ I look up to. There are nuts in every church. At least we would have them known before the whole thing started!

I love reading and posting here...but I think a church should be more in agreement with one another about issues and doctrine. I suppose that's what makes part of this a debate forum and not a church...

Hmm..
some here are more conservative, some more liberal (both doctrinally and politically), some hung up on particular issues, some stuck with particular bible translations, some strange ideas on the return of the Lord, some are creationists, some evolutionists, some pro Israel, some anti Israael, some exclusively baptist, some inclusive of just about any, some speak with rancor, some with a loving spirit, some form cliques, and a tremendous number have a real and deep love of (and by) God, and are part of His church.

So, was I describing the Baptist Board, or the local church I'm a member of, or both ....

OK, I'll join, after all, we are members by His grace alone, He can build His church using us ... He still works miracles :)

Regards
Bob

I'd like to come and visit and worship with you all, but then again, with my 3 earrings in each ear and with my pants suit that I would be wearing and with my own female opinion that I would be obliged to humbly share...

....well, we all know that I would be kicked out!

Scarlett, as long as you cover up your midriff and the tattoo of Elmer Fudd on your ankle, you'll be welcome at Blackbird's church any time.

You know what you have to do to be welcome at mine.

I would come visit, and would probably like to stay... but over time, I would see that my way of thinking and believing the Bible isn't the same.

I feel there would be more like me that would see through the attempt to be "nice" to each other..

Over time, it would get harder and harder to control, and I wouldn't like going anymore... Others would be in the same boat as me, and we would offer a split...

Now, I am not sure we would take the pastor, that depends on who it is.

There are probably too many divergent beliefs and practices for this group to worship God together in harmony, so I'd have to say "no" to joining a BB church. Exchanging ideas is good, but constant infighting is not conducive to spiritual growth, in my opinion.
