If the NFL does play this year....

I looked up the "Black National Anthem" and learned that it's a spiritual hymn. Here's the third verse:

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

I wonder if something like this is God's cunning way of getting His name back into the conversation in the midst of all this.

Good question. I imagine that the NFL will say that that would be a hate crime.

They are going to say that's a hate crime against blacks, when black players have contended for years that taking a knee is not disrespectful? And if it suddenly is, then taking a knee during the customary national anthem is not a hate crime against ALL Americans? That's about as logical as Alice in Wonderland.

Roger Goodell needs to resign and give the job to a black person. The offer to play this so-called "Black National Anthem" is just a subterfuge to keep the black players satiated. A real offer is needed and Mr. Goodell needs to resign immediately. The NFL white power structure needs to be dismantled and anything less is just window dressing.
