If you could live anywhere...

Montana. I would like to own a zillion acres and see the mountains out of my kitchen window, the big snows, seeing moose and caribou crossing the highway as I drive. I would like the wide open country.

It's too cold in Montana for me but I like visting there. As a matter of fact I was going down the highway in Montana and saw a big beautiful house being built way up on the mountain. I slammed on the brake, (to the shock of my wife), and pulled off because I wanted to take a better look at it. I took pictures all around and spent a year drawing all the details to a house very similar. A few years later I built that house all by myself on our 5 acres in the AZ desert and it is just the way I wanted it. Now I wish I had about $300,000 so I could go all out on the landscaping. A little at a time for now. But I prefer to spend the rest of my days right where I am because I don't want to design and build another house ever again, it was a lot of work.

On a tiny island in the south pacific, NO snow, grassy mountians, beach whenever you want it; I was a missionary there for 10 months and would love to go back. I would take my vacations in Colorado just because I love it in the late spring!

Years ago I nearly bought a chunk of land in the Ozarks of Arkansas-------but then I met a girl in seminary from Alabama and I married her-------and well------that took care of the land in Arkansas

We're building a house on top of a hill over looking the area where we live on her "Home" place in Alpine, Alabama---------the driveway is 1/2 mile from the road-----you can't see your neighbor-----and your neighbor can't see you

I once told a bunch of preacher buddies that I didn't want to live anywhere where I could'nt discharge my firearm off the front porch of my house--------and where we're building----I can do that-----I can deer hunt, turkey hunt, and target practice right off my front porch:thumbs: :thumbs:

I did like the scenery in the UK when I took a short missionary trip back in '04---------stayed two weeks in a place called Ogmore-by-Sea in Wales

well, I have done this. Left Brisbane beautiful but now way to crowded with like minded folks...so I have moved to Wanganui in En Zed....a tiny country with a small population, it is a beautiful place with beautiful folks.....the down side I am cold.....I have lived in the subtropics almost all my life, the country is shakey with constant tremors and quakes......but the up list is so bountiful:applause: :1_grouphug: :type:

I would love to live 6 months of the year in Cape Town, South Africa and the other 6 months of the year in the US. We love what we have seen of Missouri and Arkansas. We thought that Mount Magazine and the surrounding countryside was absolutely beautiful.

Two miles from the village, quarter mile lane through 18 acres of hardwood on a 100 acre estate. All four seasons in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Been here 36 years and love it. No plans to move anywhere else.

Actually I would be happy with 5 or so acres, but the surrounding area MUST be such that there will be no, repeat NO, development for at least my lifetime.

I used to say that I would love to live where I could have a 2 story house, stand on the roof peak, shoot a 30-06 in ANY direction and there would be no chance of hitting anybody unless they were trespassing.

My wife & I have a standing joke:
If I go first, she will move to a condo.
If she goes first, I'll move to the country.
Hopefully the rapture will come first and render all this a moot point.

Already live in the middle of Wyoming. The northern end of the Rockies Front Range ends 3 miles from my house. The North Platte is a mile away, and CY Avenue (named for the CareY ranch) that is 40 feet from my laptop is the old Oregon Trail.

Low costs, no taxes, economic boom (so much that McD's offers $10 an hour starting wage for high schoolers), VP Dick Cheney is our neighbor (but I don't hunt with him) and some of the most abundant wildlife (more antelope than people, more deer than people, wolf, elk, moose . .

Well I'm quite happy in my little corner of the world. I'm not an out doorsy kind of person. I don't like to travel. A VACATION" to me is getting to stay home not having to go to work. I guess I'm a Content person (which to me is a GOOD thing) or I'm just VERY BORING!!


My BIL and SIL just moved here from Colordo after 20 plus years and they love here too.


Not to mention it's Alan Jackson's Home Town!! :laugh:

What's wrong with Missouri and Arkansas? That is where are friends are and we have very happy memories of the times we have spent there.

We found the people very friendly and hospitable.

We are quite nomadic and don't stay anywhere too long. We are planning another move to a different part of the UK next year, but we would live overseas if we could. At the moment we don't have a choice but to stay here in the UK.

Again, no offense to our fellow citizens in those two states. And I'm sure that there are a lot of nice people there. But when I think of the most beautiful & most picturesque places to visit in the states, those two states aren't in the mix.

The only place I'd willingly give up my beloved Kentucky for is a small Island out in the Caribbean.. Only problem is a truck driver can't earn much of a living on a 3-4 square mile island

I guess I'm already there! Now for those of you under the impression that New York is nothing but a huge concrete pad from end to end... Why just take a look at that little patch of woods!

I wonder what a place in Wales (I'm guessing the west coast?) is doing on a site about Birmingham, England?

Cardiff's not bad but you could always move to North Wales and do your shopping in Chester.
