How much do you know about telephone area codes?

Can your area ever be approved for area code 950?

Do you know why certain areas were assigned specific area code numbers?
For example Why was Chicago assigned 312

I'm old enough to remember when an entire state could have only one area code and if you were in the same area code, you only had to dial seven digits! Texas may have had two or three during that time. Los Angeles was the first city I lived in (back in the 90s) where you had to have more than one area code (213 in the Basin, 818 in the Valley) and I believe you still had toll charges to call from one to the other. These days, there is no need to ever change your cell# unless you really need to "ghost" some people in your life and everyone has their own and you can use it for identification as you used to use your Social Security Number.

I remember when Georgia had two area codes. 404 was for the Atlanta metro area and 706 was for the rest of the state.
