I was brought up Baptist in which we kids were instructed to pray the Father and end those prayers, "In Jesus precious name, Amen!"

I use to follow NASCAR and would listen into the prayer. The pastor praying would pray, "The Father... In thy Holy Name." If that is not bad enough other people would pray this prayer as well.

I have wrote more emails chastising ministers for omitting the name of Jesus in their prayers. I believe it is a total waste of time to pray a prayer, and to omit the name of Jesus in that prayer. Might as well not waste your time.

Adding the name JESUS to any Prayer seals the Deal, it makes your prayer legit and the Father will validate what you just prayed for .

Its not magical, its more that the father hears and answers prays in his name in the sense that we would be asking in the Will of God to get done, so God will answer those prayers, but not those made in his name that are bogus ones!

How long were you in that? I was in AOG 10 years, but thankfulLlY never into that WOF crapola!

About two years when I was 19-20.

I was lost, both in a spiritual and emotional sense and so I was easy pickings.

So happy God got me out of that mess.

Christ Jesus said....

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. - John 14:13
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. - John 14:14
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. - John 16:23

If I ask God for a billion dollars and end the prayer with the magical phrase "in Jesus name" will God be obligated to give me what I ask?

Let me answer.

No. No he won't.

There is no magic in the phrase "in Jesus name."

Rocky, at some point you need to start questioning your pentacostal teachings.

That's because you said it wrong. You don't "ask God for a billion dollars in Jesus' name".

You declare that this is your year of blessing , bind the demon of poverty (I think his name's Ed), and then speak a billion dollars of wealth into existence in Jesus' name.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6
It's your choice, you do or you don't, but as for me and my House we Pray everything in Jesus Name...Amen

The way to 'bind the demon of poverty' is to live right in Jesus name and get a job.

Does Paul ever talk about praying to the Father without tying it to the Lord Jesus Christ in one way or the other? Seems he always couples them in reference to prayer.

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory

What about these prayers?... Brother Glen:)

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

It was the Baptist who taught me to pray not only in Jesus name, but in Jesus Precious Name. In which I continue to this good day.

There is a very able preacher among my people. He has been preaching over 60 years. Some on here who are of our brethren will know exactly who I'm talking about... He tells this story in relation to prayer because it affected him personally... He tells during his ministry his kept praying for patience... He just needed more patience... And he said I learned patience... The Lord answered my prayer... He also said be very careful what you pray for, you may get it... His wife and him brought into the world a handicapped son... He said I learned patience... It mattered not weather you or I believe that was an answer to his pray... The answer of it was directed to him and him alone... The scriptures state that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours but the results are the way he intended not ours... Remember what the preacher says be very careful what you pray for you may get it but not by your choice but by God's holy will... Brother Glen:)

Guess james did not get that memo, as he said there are many reasons why do not get what we ask even in His name!
