Ron Paul is a Republican in Congress, although he once ran for POTUS on the Libertarian ticket. CLICK HEREOldRegular said:As far as I know there is one Libertarian member of the House [Ron Paul] and he votes with the Republican. There is one Socialist and one independent in the Senate and they vote with the democrats. I believe the Republican Party best represents my political philosophy between the major parties and I will support them in an attempt to stop the socialist agenda of the democrats. I do concede that the Republicans spent like drunken democrats since 2000 and they got kicked out.:love2:
So you don't support the American democracy. Why, then, are we fighting to duplicate this mistake (in your eyes) in Iraq?Marcia said:I don't like either party nor most people who run.

It isn't necessary to state what you are. (I think most here are smart enough to know there are more than Reps and Dems)
I'm just curious.
Good thinking. Now we just think you're some roadside bum lookin for a free ride, probably to get away from da man!padredurand said:I would have raised my hand but then somebody would think I'm a charismatic.

RETURNING TO TRADITIONAL VALUES
“Always vote for principle, though you may
vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest
reflection that your vote is never lost”
-John Quincy Adams
POLITICAL STATEMENT
THEME:
RETURNING TO TRADITIONAL VALES
My Conservative values:
1. Individual Responsibility
2. Limited Government
3. Lowest Level Government
4. The purpose of Government is to protect me from others, not from myself
My promise:
1. I will not vote for any pay raise
If a pay raise is passed, I will donate the net increase to a 501(c) within my district.
2. My office will be a full time job. I will not have outside employment during my term.
3. I will vote against any non-urgent bill after 1 April if the budget has not been passed.
4. I will fulfill my entire term of service.
It is not the function of Government to keep the citizens from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.
- Robert H. Jackson, US Supreme Court
I took a look a the Conservative Party of Canada website.
the items I tend to agree with:
1. Lower taxes
2. Paying off the national debt
3. Reducing red tape for small business
4. Ending Federal policies
5. Strong military and police
6. Strong provincial govt
7. Term limits (for Senate)
The items I tend to disagree with:
1. Health care
2. Child care
3. Constitutional monarchy
4. Dual language (French and English)
I did not see any stand of the following:
(note: I support both)
1. Pro-life plank
2. (USA) 2nd Amendment - Right to bear arms*
Overall, I would say I could support the Conservative Party of Canada.
Salty
PS * I also support the right to arm bears:laugh:
